The title ‘YEAR ONE‘ carries a lot of baggage. It must be a bare-bones reimagining of a hero‘s origin story, told with gritty realism. It must be serious and mature. This feels like a trap, a recipe for a maudlin, no fun tale. But in the hands of this creative team, it is a success. The familiar story is rendered in a tense and pulpy fashion, making every moment feel highly consequential. Recommended!

TieDyeDude Diggle was the name of one of the main characters on the TV show Arrow. I wonder if this comic was one of their inspirations... (edited) 1mo

19/100 Green Arrow has always been one of my favorite superheroes, much more interesting than Marvel's Hawkeye. Green Arrow's origin story was pretty much the same, but updated and streamline. Queen was still the reckless, alcoholic playboy, he still ended up on the desert island with the drug runners, it's just more gritty and violent than earlier versions of his origin. 3.75/5

I'm not a comic book fan but I love #superheroes in tv shows & movies. Oliver Queen/Green Arrow is one of my faves. My son & I recently binge watched Season 5 & he is upset we have to wait until October to find out what happened after the #cliffhanger! Next up we'll be catching up on The Flash.

ScorpioBookDreams I love both of these shows! 8y

Speaking of Green Arrow, this week I started re-watching season one of Arrow on the treadmill. It's fun going back to the beginning and seeing how different the characters and relationships were in that first year. The show's origin for Oliver is heavily influenced by the Green Arrow: Year One series, and as a result a character is named after its author Andy Diggle.

Blair_Reads Great show! 9y
Anton @Blair_Reads As a longtime DC fan, I'm really excited so many of the characters I love are getting used on television right now! 9y
