The Good Neighbors #1: Kin
The Good Neighbors #1: Kin | Holly Black
12 posts | 15 read | 12 to read
From the amazing imagination of bestselling author Holly Black, a mysterious and wonderful teen graphic novel masterpiece. Rue Silver's mother has disappeared . . . and her father has been arrested, suspected of killing her. But it's not as straightforward as that. Because Rue is a faerie, like her mother was. And her father didn't kill her mother -- instead, he broke a promise to Rue's faerie king grandfather, which caused Rue's mother to be flung back to the faerie world. Now Rue must go to save her -- and must also defeat a dark faerie that threatens our very mortal world.

This volume contains all three stories. I loved the artwork and the three books together was a fun read. If you're looking for a great escape read this is for you.

On my hook : "Virtue" blanket in Hayfield Bonus Aran. #crochet #litsycrafters

ShyBookOwl Intrigued by this graphic novel. Pretty blanket! I haven't crocheted since my son was born in Dec, but I kind of miss it! I just never have 2 free hands anymore lol 8mo
Lauredhel @ShyBookOwl it's so hard to get anything else done that first year! And after that you might have your hands but you can't take your eyes off them for more than a moment. My kid is currently touring Europe so I have plenty of time! (edited) 8mo
ShyBookOwl @Lauredhel Haha so true! Enjoy the "time off" ? 8mo

So I just noticed how close I am to hitting 200 books read this year, and it may have incentivized me to pull out that set of graphic novels I've been meaning to read...18 books by the end if December isn't that much to read if I pull out the graphic novels on my TBR! I read the first one in the trilogy a couple years ago, but now that I've finally got all three it's time to read the lot of them! 📚📚📚

Is it just me? Or does this fairy princess look a little #WonderWoman-esque as she comes to her own her rescue?

Smart guy! It frustrates me when characters just shake their heads saying things like, “That‘s impossible!“ when they‘re confronted with evidence that what they‘ve been told is impossible is possible, and very real! And then I have to read ALL the coaxing and arguing...😒 And this why I love Holly Black. There‘s acknowledgment of the struggle with shifting paradigms but someone always cuts to the chase quickly!

Moray_Reads I have that reaction to films and TV, people should always pay more attention to children and animals, they always know when something bad is happening! 6y

“My Name is Rue, like kangaroo, or like “You‘ll rue the day we met, mwa-ha-ha!”

This is my favorite first line from my physical TBR pile for #24in48
Happy reading Littens!

Loving this Graphic novel! Picked it up because of Holly Black (the author) because I was such a big fan of the Spiderwick novels as a kid. Doesn't disappoint!!
