Wuthering Heights | Emily Brontë

Pickpick

This was a reread for me. I first read this almost 20 yrs ago in my early 20s. And I remembered this as an unhappy love story. As I read it this time, I sat wondering how pink my glasses was the first time. This is not a love story if anything it‘s a revenge story. Heathcliff is no romantic hero, he‘s crazy and evil and mean.

mjtwo I had exactly the same experience. How could 20 year old me have thought this was a great romance? It is actually quite horrific. 2y
Sophronisba It is always so interesting to revisit books that you read when you were young -- Great Expectations also becomes an entirely different book every ten years. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @AnneCecilie Pink Glasses! Love that!Rereading through older eyes is always interesting. Thanks for joining in! I'm about to post about today's Chapter. Tomorrow I'm going to post some Overall Discussion Questions. @mjtwo @Sophronisba 2y

AnneCecilie @mjtwo I know. I‘m so glad I‘m not the only one that started doubting the younger self. 2y
AnneCecilie @Sophronisba Maybe that is something I should do. I think it‘s almost 20 years since I read Great Expectations too. 2y
AnneCecilie @Crinoline_Laphroaig I‘m not much of a rereader so I wouldn‘t notice that, but it was so obvious this time. Thanks for hosting this buddy read and I‘ve answered your overall questions. 2y
