Normal People | Sally Rooney
post image
Mehso-so

Have you ever read a book that you simultaneously enjoyed and disliked? That was my experience with Normal People. I was so frustrated with Marianne and Connell‘s on-again, off-again relationship, yet I also applaud Rooney for capturing the constant miscommunication, insecurity, and unnecessary breakups so genuinely, as it is reflective of many real-life relationships. I loved the writing style though! 3.5 ⭐️ #NetGalley Link to full review ⬇️

BooknerdsLife Great review! 🙌🏼💓 I‘ve only started this book but just couldn‘t get into it and somehow I can foresee the pattern of how it‘s going to be...Plus I struggle to relate to the characters ...maybe I‘m too old for this...it reminds me of some YA contemporary 🙈🤔 5y
candority Thank you @BooknerdsLife 💞 That‘s totally fair! The pattern is definitely predictable from the start, and I agree that it reads more like YA (although more explicit than YA would be). I‘m the same age as the characters and couldn‘t related to them, so who knows if it‘s an age thing or just a personal experience/preference thing. Are you going to continue reading it? 5y
BooknerdsLife @candority You‘re welcome 💖 And glad to know it might not be the age thing 😂 I think I will put it aside for now til I‘m in the right mood to tackle it again. Too many books & too little time for books I can‘t get into! But who knows, maybe I‘ll enjoy it more later 🤷🏻‍♀️ #ProblemOfAMoodReader 5y
