Peeps, the shortlist has been announced! Is your favourite here? Of these, I only have the tagged book stacked (because of Litsy) now I‘ll look up the others as well. #TheBookerPrize2019
CathythoughtsI‘ve only read Orchestra of Minorities... but I loved it ♥️👍🏻5y
CinfhenOhhhh!!! Thanks for sharing!!! I read and loved Orchestra, I‘ve preordered the Atwood ( but I‘m not happy it‘s on the list) I‘m curious about Ducks, and I‘m sad that this one didn‘t make it
BarbaraBB@Cinfhen@erzascarletbookgasm@Simona I am blown away that Lost Children‘s Archive is not there! I haven‘t read any of these (made all the wrong choices obviously) and I don‘t feel like changing that at all 😬5y
CinfhenI‘ve come to the conclusion that literary prizes don‘t really work for me, as a reader@kathedron@BarbaraBB5y
CinfhenI‘m curious to hear your thoughts@GuiltyFeat ??? Have u read the long list??5y
GuiltyFeat@cinfhen I've read three of the books from the longlist and none of them made the shortlist! I thought Lost Children Archive was good enough to take the whole thing - truly astonishing. Then last week I read Lanny by Max Porter and it was also wonderful.5y
GuiltyFeat@cinfhen I would definitely have read the Rushdie anyway, but I was planning on skipping the Atwood. I read The Handmaid's Tale first time around in the late 80s and I'm not looking forward to revisiting that world. Also I could have lived without the 1000 page run-on sentence one. It doesn't inspire confidence.
The Book People in the UK already has all six for 50 quid, so I may splurge.5y
CinfhenI thought Lost Children would be a definite@GuiltyFeat and I really enjoyed
CinfhenI love those #BookPeople@GuiltyFeat it‘s worth the splurge!! I‘ve already preordered the Atwood ( I gave into temptation/hype/ curiosity) but I still might buy the bundle. I‘m pretty sure I‘m going to hate the Rushdie / we don‘t get on so well 😉5y
GuiltyFeat@Cinfhen I think we're going to hear more about Lost Children Archive. I predict it will take the Pulitzer or National Book Award. It's a major work in my opinion and the Booker judges missed a trick.5y
CinfhenI have an audio for Lanny that I‘m gonna try next🎧5y
Simona@Cinfhen@BarbaraBB I had finished the longlist (except Testaments), and I must say that the Quichotte is much stronger story than Lost Children Archive and An Orchestra of Minorities. I‘m quite pleased with the shortlist🤷♀️5y
