Bookwormjillk Short chapter today, but I might just have to read ahead tonight to see what Heathcliff is up to now! 2y
Bookwormjillk Just finished the weekend‘s chapters. It‘s like a car wreck in slow motion with Cathy and Linton 😬 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig I'm gonna get a little Ranty. I've said it before, this is my 1st Read. I didn't know what to expect, but so many times I've seen Heathcliff grouped in with Mr. Darcy as a Romantic Hero. NO! Darcy has his faults but he'd NEVER act the way Heathcliff. Up till now Heathcliff's Evil have been directed at adults. His treatment of his son is despicable and I Officially hate him as a Character. 😡 2y
SarahBookInterrupted @Crinoline_Laphroaig I‘ve been thinking about this. I had no idea that Heathcliff was compared to Mr.Darcy, but I suppose if he hadn‘t decided to become a better person when Elizabeth turned him down maybe? But he would be more like Mr.Wickham. Mr.Darcy‘s father doted on him too and the son was jealous and didn‘t see why, but the difference is the behaviour of Mr.Darcy to honour his fathers wishes vs turning Mr. Wickham into another farm hand. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @SarahBookInterrupted a book I just read, gave the best explanation about Darcy “He just takes some getting to know. And obviously, he‘s a bit proud: he‘s young, he‘s rich, he‘s handsome and from a fine old family, so he has every reason to be. Besides, he changes . . . or rather, I think, he becomes who he always was, deep down. And all for love. What could be more special?” 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @SarahBookInterrupted I can definitely see the comparison of Heathcliff and Wickham. 2y
SarahBookInterrupted @Crinoline_Laphroaig I love that! I love Mr.Darcy so much. I think that is exactly right. All for love, what could be more special. Plus Catherine is no Elizabeth. 2y
