From an adult reader's perspective, this is just another opportunity to feast the eyes on Eric Carle's art, and I will happily take any opportunity to do so.

Seriously, how do you not fall in love with Eric Carle's command of colour?! 🐓

Not sure about the clowns, especially the one that caused a car accident but the other clown got ticketed. The addition problems with candy were cute, though.

My go to candy 🙃

Andrew65 I love both the Chocolate M & Ms and the peanut ones. 1y
TheBookHippie @Andrew65 ME TOO! Yum. 1y
MaGoose I like the milk chocolate ones, but prefer the dark chocolate ones. The carmel ones are fairly good, too. 1y

The mint M&Ms come in white, too! Today, I played with my food. [That's not as unusual an occurrence as you might expect from a grown-up. 🤣]

All year, we look forward to mint M&Ms. Last year we had none (we also had no family celebration 😢). This year, we'll have both M&Ms in our stockings *and* family celebration! Happy, happy!

Rooster‘s Off to See the World is a great MF math book to add to you classroom library. While Rooster is planning on travelling the world, he meets several friends who are added, then subtracted, from his group. A great math activity (https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/roosters-see-world-lesson-plan/) can be used to count and follow the timeline of the story, accounting for all of the animals joining the group.

OliviaBuck UDL 3.2 can be emphasised to highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships within the book. EL strategy 42- have students use timelines to arrange and sequence important facts and information can also be used alongside this book and activity. #ucflae3414sp21 3y
DrSpalding Scholastic is a high-quality resource that you should continue to use. Excellent universal design and English learner strategy noted. 3y

Hershey‘s kisses by jerry pallato, is a SF LC book that is perfect for math circle fun! The book is all about addition and adding numbers in fun ways. This utilizes UDL principal: 2.3 decoding of text, mathematical notation, and symbols- teaching math by counting, symbols, while having fun and EL principal: 15 (reinforce key details)

DrSpalding This would not be a science fiction book and I don‘t think that literature circles are the best option either. This would be considered non-fiction and obviously a book to read during math instruction. You would want to offer some Hershey kisses as manipulatives! I have done this and it works well as a fun Friday educational activity. Think long and hard about the teaching strategies you will implement with high-quality literature. 3y
