Love seeing a revisit to one on of a Sherlock Holmes story. I am enjoying the series very much. I rated this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Atmospheric tale of Dartmoor, mixing real people and fiction. I remain sceptical of the age difference here, but I do think the author is handling it well. Very readable.

Sunday evening reading

I found this a little disappointing. I usually very much enjoy Karen Maitland‘s book but this one dragged for me. In fact I was a bit bemused by it as I wasn‘t sure what was going on!

Finished this today. A very atmospheric, gripping and in parts highly eerie read. Vivid, beautiful landscape descriptions of the bogs and tors and tiny villages of Dartmoor in foggy nights and a coherent plot combine to a great psychological thriller. I flew through the last third of the book. Best read on a dark, stormy night. 😋 4/5*

Well, this one won‘t be in my top 2020 reads! I‘m not sure how I feel about it really. I found it tedious at times, enjoyable at others and also humorous in parts. To be honest I found it quite waffly and a little too deep. This is the third book I‘ve read by Salley Vickers and I‘ve come to the conclusion that although I enjoy the basis of her books, her style of writing isn‘t really for me.

Another home-run for Michelle Griep! Set in Victorian England of 1861, this story follows two unlikely pair - an opera singer hiding away and a runaway convict - in a tale of justice sought, forgiveness received, redemption embraced, and renewal begun. Wrapped in intense intrigue and mystery, the story combines the best of suspense and historical romance to bring a tantalizing read that you won't be able to put down.

This was another descent book in the series. I thought the exploration of how magic could be used to make the lives of the working poor worse is very interesting and a good way to continue to grow the world. Good story, good characters (not great, but good) and as always, a good read. Worth my time; if not worth purchasing for my collection
