This book has a lot of names/places and just at this point with my stress level… I can‘t finish it. I have enjoyed as much as I gave read so it‘s a #DNF really only because it‘s not the right time for me.

Texreader Ahhh I know the feeling. Maybe someday it‘ll be the right time. Good for you knowing when to call it!! 3w
Catsandbooks Totally get it! No worries! 3w
TheKidUpstairs I get that. There is a lot there, and is definitely one that needs your full mental attention. I'm reading it slowly so that I can take it all in, and I'm really enjoying it. But yes, if your brain is already on overload it would be a tough one! Maybe you'll come back to it when the time is right! 3w
ElizaMarie @TheKidUpstairs yeah what I read what super enjoyable … I just couldn‘t focus to continue. It was as one of those things just not the right head space for me 3w

The Oracle Year: A Novel | Charles Soule
Bailedbailed

Had to #dnf my January #BookSpin. I think this was mostly a case of not the right book for me. I simply had no interest in reading/finishing it. And since it was one of my #botm choices from 2018 I figure it's time to unshelve it.

@TheAromaofBooks

Megabooks The end was so unsatisfying that I kind of wish I hadn‘t finished it. 1mo
Megabooks Yeah. You never find out who is sending the oracle predictions and there‘s no sequel. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 apparently there‘s some master hand at work manipulating the planet but they‘re all kind of like “oh well guess we‘ll never know who” 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ (edited) 1mo
TheAromaofBooks Sometimes you just have to let a book go!! More shelf space for something you'll like!! 4w
gossamerchild @TheAromaofBooks absolutely! The older I get the easier it gets. 4w

I REALLY hate to give up on books but I tried reading this one AND listening to the audiobook and I just...couldn't...do it. The writing is lovely, but the main characters were hardly ever together and Ian's life was beyond frustrating. He's a personal secretary to a British Baron but really he's just a babysitter for a grown man. I liked Sabrina and her storyline, but alas, it wasn't enough to keep me reading. #bookspin #dnf

Clare-Dragonfly Life is too short to read books you aren‘t enjoying! 1mo
SheReadsAndWrites 😊 I agree @Clare-Dragonfly I still feel a twinge of guilt though. The writing really is lovely... 1mo
Hooked_on_books I suspect a lot of personal assistants are babysitters who do the adulting for people so they can do whatever they want. Kinda gross. 1mo

It is a #DNF for me on this one. Maybe just not in the mood or the right phase of life. Just not for me. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

I'm really not sure about this book. I haven't been able to get into it and find myself wanting to listen to other other books or podcasts when I play it. Not really sure what it is about this one that I'm not connecting with. I've been listening to it for about 3 weeks - usually not a promising sign that I'll finish the thing. The plot seems iffy and drags on quite a bit. Anyone else feel the same way?

I'm going to be the unpopular opinion here and admit I DNF this one. I read 48% of it and still just couldn't stay. Meredith and Nina were just a hamster wheel of the same emotions/excuses/lack of communication and I figured out that not having the mother's POV made me have no interest in her story. Having said that, Hannah's writing is great. Truly. It's what kept me reading for as long as I did. #sosorry #dnf

Yeah, no. Language is way too flowery, and the book‘s pace suffers as a result #bookspin #bail #dnf

Nope. Can't do it. And I only feel bad because it's the #teamslaughter #buddyread. Turns out I can't handle this type of thriller. Honestly, I almost stopped after the first chapter. Oh well.

Do #wordsearch words count for books you #dnf?

TrishB Her books are always v.violent and gory! 3mo
gossamerchild @TrishB it's the violence towards women I can't handle. Hey writing style is fantastic, though, and I totally see why people enjoy her. 3mo

Pickpick

This was so close to a #dnf but I plodded on. It got a little spooky in the middle so I was going with a So-So, but the end changed it to a low pick.
Annie was a very annoying person and kind of dumbly naïve, but I guess that was the point.
I also may not be the right target age for this book.

The end made up a lot for me. And I LOVE Ralph.

Avanders Can‘t wait to read this one! 😄 Also, did you get the package from me? It should have arrived last weekend… 😬 4mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Avanders Yes I did. Thank you so much! I just posted a pic today. 3mo
