Feeling like Habesha food for dinner tonight! 😋 I tend to get stuck in a rut and make the same dishes, so I‘m looking for inspiration.

Cathythoughts These look inspiring 💫 2y
Jess My absolute favorite cuisine. Yum! 2y
Tamra @Jess such awesome flavors! I love it when my house smells like Ethiopian butter and berbere. 2y

I‘m surprised by how much I read this week. One book went into #hibernation but the rest were all enjoyable. I really enjoyed my YA #SFF and my IRL bookclub book (The Lost Shtetl). The Mercies was a well written HF and I look forward to discussing with the #LiteraryCrew
Next week I hope to focus on #ReadingAfrica22 - I‘ve started the memoir by #Ethiopian born chef, Marcus Samuelsson and it‘s quite good. I think my weakest read was the romance😒

squirrelbrain A fab week! 2y
Cinfhen Thanks @squirrelbrain it didn‘t feel like I was making so much progress/ surprised myself 😁 2y

That link is to a charity in Ethiopia I just started supporting after researching where to give. I fell in love with Ethiopia once again while doing #FOODANDLIT ETHIOPIA I first fell in love with Ethiopia in the 1980s when focus of hunger was everywhere there. It still is …recently things are much worse. As you can see in the news. Pic from Lynsey Addario as she landed there this week to bear photo witness.

TheBookHippie I know people often feel helpless and I always say give 5 bucks to a cause or even a dollar. An hour of your time … you can always do something. Many somethings make a beautiful mosaic and can create change. ✌🏻 3y

My last recipes from #Ethiopia - Curcuma vegetables, spicy Tomato Salad and Banana Mash. Especially like the last one 😁

Now I'm ready to travel further to #Israel 👍

Just before we are leaving #Ethiopia and moving to #Israel I thought I‘d recommend this Israeli Tv series that combines a little bit of both. Nevsu (means soul in Amharic) is an Israeli sitcom about a mixed family of Ethiopian Jews and Ashkenazi Jews, as they navigate through prejudices and clash of cultures. The series won the international Emmy, it is partly in Hebrew and partly in Amharic but there are subtitles too :) enjoy! #foodandlit

ReadingRachael Thanks for sharing! 3y
Texreader How cool is that?? 3y
MySharonaK @Texreader right?? So cool!! 3y

Breakfast from #Ethiopia this morning 😋 Can't believe we're soon about to travel further. I still got one recipe left for Sunday 😁

#FoodandLit @Butterfinger @Texreader

Pageturner1 that looks good! what is it? 3y
Jari-chan Mashed Avocado, Mango yogurt and mashed mango layered. Had to improvise a little on the original recipe, but it totally works like this 😊 3y
Buechersuechtling @Jari-chan Sounds delicious. 🤤 Did you mash the mango 🥭 yourself or can it be bought❓ Or did you, just thought about it, buy frozen fruits and put them in the blender blitzing them❓ 3y

Jari-chan @Buechersuechtling I would have mashed them myself, but the problem with our stores are that they only sell huge pieces of mango. No way I can eat those before it goes bad. So I bought it. But I mashed the avocado - that's always fun 😄 3y
Buechersuechtling @Jari-chan I love avocado 🥑 but take it as a seldom treat. (Energy balance, sustainability. 🤐) It‘s the same here with mangoes. Here, they sell mango mash, I just recall it. There‘s apple in it also. 3y
Jari-chan @Buechersuechtling Then it might be same product. I quite like the taste of it 😊 And same with me and avocados... 3y

Jari-chan @Texreader It really is so cool to know you've been here! 😁 The world can be such a small place 😁 And I'm happy to know that you've enjoyed your stay 😊♥️ 3y
Texreader @Jari-chan I have a very funny story about our stay there that I think you‘ll just die laughing about those crazy American tourists. But I‘d have to put it in a letter—too long for a post. Would you mind sharing your mailing address and I can send you a little bit of Texas 😁 You can email it to me at kamonsen at aol.com 3y
Jari-chan @Texreader Mail is sent - can't wait to receiving your letter! 😁 3y
Texreader @Jari-chan Got it! I‘ll try to write it soon! 3y
