Most of my reading this week has been old newspapers. I discovered that my g-g-g grandmother‘s brother was convicted of murder and executed in 1917, and I have fallen head first into the rabbit hole of newspaper stories about him and the trial. Lcsmcat @tpixie I‘m glad I‘m not a direct descendant, but it‘s fascinating reading! And the old journalism! One paper used the whole thing as an editorial on the evils of whiskey. And all of them used language that today would be called editorial even as they purported to be reporting. 2y
