My #20in4 #readathon is kicking off late as I didn‘t see the post till a little while ago, but I‘ll be extending it to Tuesday my time to make it up. My goals are:

📚Read 3 books
⏱Get over 20hrs
🎃Finish #Scarathlon 2022 with a bang!

There‘s a few books on my #HalloweenTBR that are waiting for me so I‘ve got plenty to choose from. Now I‘m busy getting my #NonFictionNovember stacks ready! Good luck everybody👻🤞 #TeamSlaughter 1pt

Clwojick Great goals! 1y

This book has been on my #halloweentbr for years, and I‘ve read almost all the other classic gothic horrors before this made it to the top of my list.

Someone tell me why I should look forward to reading this! I feel like I‘m just doing it to check a box so I can finally watch Penny Dreadful. 😂

This pic also reminds me that I need to put some black gauze over the painting in the background. It doesn‘t blend in with the spooky display!

mklong I‘m reading this now too! It‘s my neighborhood book club‘s next pick. (edited) 6y
alisiakae @mklong do you like it so far? 6y
mklong It‘s a reread for me, but yes. It is more eerie and atmospheric than out and out scary, but I hope you like it! 6y

tjwill It has some of Wilde‘s best lines! 6y
Billypar It holds a special place in my reading heart because it was the first book I casually read after graduating college and started learning to read for fun rather than for school. I really enjoyed it- not sure it I'd think of it as a Halloween read, but the magical quality was memorable. 6y
alisiakae @Billypar I like to read at least one gothic novel every October. In past years it has been Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein, etc. 6y
CoffeeNBooks This is one of my most favorite books! I've read it several times, and I teach it in my AP Literature class. It is fabulous, and typical Oscar Wilde writing style. There are so many great aphorisms and quotable lines in this book! 6y
alisiakae @tjwill @Billypar @CoffeeNBooks I‘m definitely looking forward to reading it now! Thank you! 😍 6y
Billypar Enjoy! I loved Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde (though haven't read Dracula yet)- gothic reads are the best. 6y
Susanita You probably know the gist of the story, but the details make it chilling. 6y
BarbaraBB I really liked this one but it is no gothic horror. 6y
Caroline2 This is such a brilliant book! It‘s so dark and well written! You‘ll love it! 😉 6y
GlassAsDiamonds I‘d second @BarbaraBB ‘s observation that it‘s not really gothic horror but since I often dislike the drag of Gothic Horror (Kill me Woman in White ...💀🤦🏻‍♀️😱🤯), I think that‘s a good thing! It‘s a short, fast read that‘s so very thought provoking that it‘s worth the time and effort. If you can get your hands on the Angela Lansbury B&W movie version after you finish, it is divine and worth the effort! 6y
alisiakae @BarbaraBB @GlassAsDiamonds I‘m starting to get that impression. It‘s on almost all the gothic horror lists I have ever seen, which is what made me think it was. Oh well! I really like it so far. 6y
BarbaraBB It‘s better than horror! My favorite gothic horror though is 6y
BarbaraBB Maybe next year 😘 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @BarbaraBB 😂😂😂😊🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ always the way!! 6y

#AllHallowsRead #photoadaychallenge #ScaryReads #HalloweenTBR This is my pile of scary books for this Halloween season, one reread(It), two set in Asylums, one about spiders 🕷 & two set in an apocalyptic future earth. I have a few more that may be added as we go along, horror is one of my favourite genres.😈I may tackle House Of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski as well for a #scaretober read.👻💀👹🍂🎃🕸⚰️🔪🔮⚗️☣️#Litsy #halloween

Suzze Oh! I forgot that I have the sequel to The Hatching to read, too! Skitter. 7y
BibliophileMomma I really like the Asylum series! 7y
rbmavrick7 What was your favorite of this group? 7y
Lizpixie @rbmavrick7 Bird Box was really good, but The Hatching made my skin crawl. Absolutely terrifying.🕷🕸🕷 7y
