The Little Red Hen | Paul Galdone
Pickpick

This story is an example of a fable and a folk tale, which are both specific types of traditional literature. In this particular retelling of this timely story the red hen asks upon some of her friends to help her make a cake. After they refused to help, she was forced to make the cake on her own. But that meant she also ate it on her own. The moral of the story is that hard work pays off, while laziness on the other hand has its own consequences.

I truly enjoyed reading this story! I think that it could be well utilized in an early elementary classroom. I think it would send a strong message to students that when they work together (helping in building a classroom community) that they will find that everyone will benefit. Alos touching on the other lesson in which the story teaches, which is hard work pays off. Two very powerful messages that young children could benefit from learning.

This is a very cute story about a hen. The colors are warm and inviting, and the patterns add an extra element to the story.

This book tells the story of Rosie‘s walk across the farm. Unknowingly escaping the fox‘s grasp around every corner. Even if there were no words, you could still tell exactly what happens in the story through the bright and colorful pictures provided.

The Little Red Hen is a TL picture book that is retold by Carol Ottolenghi and illustrated by Reggie Holladay. The tale of a responsible hen who works hard to get the job done but her lazy friends think they are going to reap the benefits of her hard work. This would be a great story for DR where students could take on the persona of each of the characters and maybe throw in some extra characters so everyone gets a role. #ucflae3414su20

Ameyer32 DR directly connects to ESOL strategy 17, providing contextual support through visuals. A great UDL would be 7.1 providing individual choice by allowing small groups to reenact the story and picking their own character or making up their own to add to the story. 4y
DrSpalding So, would you use the puppets in your resource to perform the dramatic reenactment? This is classic traditional literature and dramatic reenactment would be an excellent teaching strategy. 4y

DrSpalding There are so many lessons to be learned from traditional literature. Comparing and contrasting different versions is a valuable activity that can help students master language arts standards. 4y

🌟 Mom review: bilingual book ✔️❤️
as a Hispanic mom raising her kid in the U.S Is important to me for my kid to learn to read both languages.
Illustrations ✔️
ending of story line 👎🏻❌
‼️Book is about a hard working hen who asked for help, which she didn‘t get, at the end, she ended up making bread for herself, and didn‘t share with the farm animals to “teach them a lesson”.

I have always loved this book, because the plot is very direct and simple, but conveys an important message about team work. The theme conveyed is how teamwork works and simplifies consequences for not participating teamwork.
