The Library Book | Susan Orlean

Pickpick

Book 10 2021 - I very much enjoyed this book and I‘m really glad that #booked2021 prompted me into reading it. I miss libraries so much at the moment and some of the descriptions in this book felt I was right there. The history of libraries in general as well as the LA central library was fascinating as were many of the characters who have been connected to it. If you love libraries and books (I know you do) you should read this book! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cinfhen So glad the challenge encouraged you to pick up this book! I thought it was really wonderful too❤️ 3y
Magpiegem @Cinfhen the only problem is I want to go and see it in person now ☺️ Wonderful is the right word. 3y
MicheleinPhilly I miss this library so much! I used to spend my lunch breaks there when I worked in downtown L.A. Such a gorgeous building. 3y

Magpiegem @MicheleinPhilly oh my goodness you are one of “The Patrons”. That pretty much makes you a celebrity in my eyes 😊 Have you read the book? Do you think Orlean did a good job getting a sense of the place? Xx 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I may also choose this one for our #libraryorlibrarian prompt! 3y
MicheleinPhilly I did read the book and loved it. It made me a bit weepy as it is an institution that I loved deeply. She most definitely captured its essence. Various parts of the building are a strange and wonderful timeline for what was and continues to be great. If you ever find yourself in L.A., you MUST visit. 3y
Magpiegem @BarbaraTheBibliophage I highly recommended it 😊 if you do let me know what you think! Xx 3y
Magpiegem @MicheleinPhilly one day... when I‘m not trapped on a tiny island anymore, I will certainly be visiting this library! Xx 3y
