I have five pets but this little buddy is the one weighing on my heart right now. He had bloodwork yesterday because he has been drinking excessively. My vet call about an hour ago (while I am teaching) and said he has diabetes and I will have to give him two insulin shots daily. He has been through so much already-hurts my heart. We have to go to the vet tonight to figure everything out about diet and shots.

Bklover Oh no! I had a cat with diabetes and did the shots thing. It was amazing how much different he acted after starting the shots- he was so much more full of life. And he never minded the shots at all. You can do it- hugs to you both!❤️❤️❤️ 5y

OutsmartYourShelf I have a cat with diabetes who is on 3 injections a day. She is still going strong after 2 years on them. I found an injector pen much easier than a needle. Hope you get everything sorted. 5y

cherinium As someone who works with diabetic animals every day at work and owned one of my own for several years, I assure you it will be fine. They hardly notice the injections at all, and the insulin will make him feel so much better! Just always make sure he's eating before you give it and follow your vet's instructions about diet. 💕🐾💉 5y

AmyG He‘s so cute. And if this helps...my daughter‘s cat is diabetic. My daughter gives him a tiny shot, while he eats, twice a day. It‘s easy peasy. He will be fine. What @cherinium said. 5y

He did try to bite me but hopefully I will get better at it and it will bother him less. Thanks for the kind words and support. It means so much on a day like today ❤️ 5y

AmyG He will get used to it. I have to stick a hige needle into my cat‘s skin...for IV fluids to help with her kidneys-every oher day. It does get easier and you develop a routine. Hugs. (edited) 5y

JoScho @Craftylikefox thank you Tabitha. It hasn‘t been great so far. Tonight when he tried to bite me I got stabbed with the needle and my husband had to put a towel over his head this morning to give him the shot. We are going to get and try lidocaine gel tomorrow. 5y

Kspahr That‘s because all the grain these pet food companies are putting in the pet food . Check the ingredients in pet food the first three to four ingredients listed should not be any kind of grain it should be meat or mat byproduct . 5y
