Pickpick

I found Rogers to be quite hilarious main character: I loved this antihero who didn't want to do anything else than drink, play cards and take it easy. And somehow he suddenly have to be the hero. I also seem to love droids/robots as characters.

The plot was quite simple but I didn't expect much this being a sci-fi comedy.

Bombs Away: The Hot War | Harry Turtledove

When the Cold War goes hot the world suffers. Turtledove pulls no punches. I‘m looking forward to continuing this trilogy. Finished Jun 30, 2023.

Cuilin Looks great 👍 5mo
Librarybelle I‘ve heard good things about the series, but I‘m on the fence as to reading them. 5mo

jenniferw88 @Librarybelle, you definitely need to read in chronological order of events, not publication date. I've read it out of order, and it can be confusing! 5mo
Susanita I‘ve been listening to a podcast about Napoleon, and they interviewed Bernard Cornwell! 5mo
Bluebird Someday I‘ll get to this series. It‘s been on my list for awhile, but trying not to start new ones until I finish some of the many I‘m already reading 5mo

Thank you @PuddleJumper and all our hosts for a really fun #Scarathlon2023!!! Though I fell short of my goals this year, you all made it a daily blast with your posts, memes, adding to my TBR list, and in general, being the best community on social media. 🫶🏻

New series of Dr. Who starts in November, so I have my favourite doctor in the background 🤣

#bookspinbingo list @TheAromaofBooks (#4, #5 & #6 are my #roll100 results @PuddleJumper )

KathyWheeler I loved him too. 10 is still my favorite, but I think they all have their good points. 6mo
jenniferw88 @KathyWheeler 10 is my second fave. I've only watched since 9, but 9 is my least favourite as he has the 'are you my Mummy' episodes, which scared me. (Probably due to my medical issues, the masks reminded me of the masks they use to anaesthetise people for operations). 6mo
KathyWheeler @jenniferw88 I always thought Christopher Eccleston was the perfect person to restart the show. Those masks are creepy, but when he‘s so excited and says “Just this once, everybody lives!” I nearly cried for him. 6mo

jenniferw88 @KathyWheeler He probably was! I have a real love/hate relationship with those episodes because, yes, they scared me (the hate), but they also introduced John Barrowman (the love) to me!! I most definitely have a 'thing' for the Scottish accent 🤣🤣🤣 (my phone's lock screen is Missy!) 6mo
Jari-chan There are other Capaldi fans?! 🤩🎉 6mo
5feet.of.fury I‘m so excited for the new season. 6mo
BookwormAHN I can't wait for the new season 😍 6mo
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! 6mo
Vansa @KathyWheeler could not agree more. That arc of The Doctor dances is one of my absolute favourites. Delightful 6mo

Pickpick

(1989) The 4th volume in Clancy's series of thrillers featuring intelligence analyst Jack Ryan has Ryan responding to a covert military operation gone sour, targeting drug production in Colombia. I haven't been a fan of this series but it's growing on me: it's turning into a sort of technothrillers where the "techno" is US political machinery (plus enough peril to keep the ship moving). Flaws, yes, but interesting, and this is my favorite so far
