Pickpick

This would read like a (horror) movie if you didn‘t know it was real. Scientists took cells from Henrietta Lacks when she was dying with cervical cancer and used them, without her family‘s knowledge, to carry out scientific research but also to make a lot of money.

The whole Lacks family was appallingly treated, right up to the current day but Skloot treats them all with sensitivity.

Emily92Bibliophile I tried to read this one a couple years ago. I ended up having to put it down and plan to come back to at a later time because of how HORRIFYING it was. It really read like a horror movie and the fact that it is very REAL, and I while I didn‘t get far into it( maybe halfway?) I plan to read it soon. 3y
