The pictures that the illustrator used really emphasize that mean jean is a bully they make her look unfriendly.

This book is a good book, where mean jean takes over! The author uses punctuation and font sizing to really add effect into this book. The theme of standing up for others in this book is super important because all children need to know how to.

A simple concept executed fantastically. How high can the girl go? To outer space?? Illustrations are a great compliment to the text, not redundant. We read the bilingual English/Spanish version!

In 1991, #EastTimor voted for independence from Indonesia, the country that essentially took them over in 1975 when Portugal left. Instead of a smooth democratic process, Indonesia murdered civilians and tried to remove voters for independence. Here, Birmingham illustrates how he sees Australia to have stood by and allowed it to happen. I would have liked a little more background, as this is something I knew nothing about, but this is a really👇🏼

Hooked_on_books interesting read that taught me a lot. Be aware that there are some graphic depictions of murder and death in this one. #ReadingAsia2021 #TimorLeste 3y

TheKidUpstairs Cute! We have something similar in our backyard. During lockdown last spring/summer when playgrounds were closed off, it was a godsend! 3y

#Bookhaul! I joined my Christmas and anniversary Powell‘s gift cards and snapped up these lovelies! The tagged is my #TimorLeste book for #ReadingAsia2021. I‘m a little annoyed by the amount of adhesive that stuck to it when I took the sticker off. 😡 Anyone know some tricks to remove that so it doesn‘t stick to all the other books now?

ValerieAndBooks Goo gone, maybe? 3y
Hooked_on_books @ValerieAndBooks Hmm, good thought. I‘ll try that. 3y
britt_brooke Nice haul! 3y

Author: David Soman and Jacky Davis
Genre: Realistic Fiction
“No need to fear! The Bug Squad is here!” Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy is a realistic fiction (RF)about a little girl's adventure at the playground. When she and her friend can't agree on what to play she suggest he joins her and plays Ladybug girl. Together they show off their power on the playground and save a helpless pup from an evil derange squirrel. This book would be fantastic

LauraLeighn for Partner Reading (PR) weather that means each student takes turns reading each page or if they assign parts and read for their character. I think ESOL strategy 10. Teach think, pair, and share strategies in cooperative groups would go great with the PR. It would be great to encourage the students to be thinking critically as they read, let them bounce ideas off each other. This ESOL strategy plays well with UDL 9.3 (Develop self-assessment and 4y
LauraLeighn reflection) since you can encourage any student to think pair share as well as reflect on what they are reading. TeacherVision has some great lesson resources for this book as well, with fun activity pages, and reading assessments. https://www.teachervision.com/childrens-book/ladybug-girl-bumblebee-boy-activity... #ucflae3414SU20 4y
Emmaturtle3 Hi! I‘ve never head Id this book before, but I now want to read it!! The title remind me of shark boy and lava girl haha also, that is such an awesome resource. It provided so many worksheets, lessons and assessments for this book and I know many other as well! Great post :) 4y
DrSpalding What a helpful resource. This is a series! Ladybug girl is the main character of several books. Minor errors… Weather should be whether. 🙂 4y

melrailey My nephew is named Jace. We come across very few Jaces in our life. He's quite the booklover too. His current favorite is Creepy Pair of Underwear. He's 3.

JenlovesJT47 @melrailey aww so cool! I‘ve seen a few Jaces but most spell it differently. I came across the name in a book (of course!) in college and knew I was going to use it if I ever had a boy. 🤗😘♥️ 5y

melrailey My sister found it in a baby name book. Something about meaning moon I think. Everybody always thinks it‘s the mortal instruments books though and she hasn‘t even read those. 5y
