#ItTakesAllKinds #WithMap @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
A high-voltage sci-fi adventure story in a Disneyland-like amusement park of the future. The computer programming starts to glitch increasingly, pixel-holes, a few hushed-up attacks & accidents happen. Soon the AI goes fully awry and the remaining guests and staff of the park have to fight for their lives against attractions turned unpredictable & murderous to find a way out of the madhouse.

Yuki_Onna Continued:
You could feel how much fun the author had with telling the story of the things going, a bit like a kid in a candy shop, but after a while, it was just too goofy and stupid. There were tons of inconsistencies. And sorry, no one, no matter how loyal or brainwashed or partially incorporated by the park you were, would act that way when people are starting to get killed. No. No way. ...

Yuki_Onna continued:
There were so many instances where I just rolled my eyes because it just doesn't work that way, at least not on paper.
Maybe this would work better as a Hollywood blockbuster movie where all is action & nothing needs to make sense anymore.
Where were the editors on this one? This book is so promising – it could have been enhanced to a whole another level by a tough round of editing!

Yuki_Onna continued:
The ending with its very sinister twists redeems the goofy middle part a little, and, as I said, it was a fast ride! 3,5/5⭐

I‘ve been feeling super crummy since last week (horrendous cough and I lost my voice), so I bought myself this Disney Haunted Mansion throw with glow-in-the-dark eyes at my local Hallmark. I was really jazzed to find it half off and it was the last one! Made to be. I also picked up a ‘Foolish Mortals‘ mug because hot beverage!

Btw - I changed my name here to match my instagram and my love for all things books, blankets, and hot beverages!

julesG Yeah for the new name and blanket. 6mo
wanderinglynn That throw is awesome! 🤩 6mo

An interesting read about the formation of Disneyland. Well written and researched but I will say it‘s very male-centric and glosses over or ignores the mistreatment of women and the misogyny that was rampant in Disney‘s early days. Highly recommend reading “The Queens of Animation” by Nathalia Holt alongside any history of Disney in order to get a balanced viewpoint. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Forgot that I hadn‘t posted about this audiobook. Downloaded it after seeing it at the bookstore & listened before my vacation. Very informative if you‘re interested in how DisneyLand was started. It was interesting to see the differences and similarities between the park of 1955 and now. There was one long chapter that basically transcribed the opening tv broadcast that I didn‘t think was necessary.

I read the second edition of this book which was written in 2009. So sadly some of the hidden Mickeys in this book no longer exist in Disneyland and California Adventure. But it was nice to read something that held a lot of nostalgia for me.

I am glad we didn‘t continue with the original plan to visit WDW last year. It sounds as though COVID had a big impact. Hoping by the time we visit in December it will be more as we remember. Although there do seem to have been quite a few changes in the 9 years since we were there. And the big bonus is Trix is now a huge Star Wars and HP fan.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really nerded out to this “Hidden Magic”guide. Veness highlights special WDW touches we might otherwise miss. Also listed are timelines of each park including rides/attractions that are longer present. This jogged a vivid memory of 8-year-old me riding Maelstrom, now re-themed as Frozen Ever After. And it turns out, I went to MGM Studios its inaugural year. Fun memories! A must read for those who want to drive their family bonkers.

Cinfhen Ohhh, you are DEFINITELY going to drive your family bonkers!!!! and they will DEFINITELY love you for it 💚💚 2y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen 😂😂 Btw, I think I‘m finally finished with my Disney prep reading. You‘re probably relieved. 😅 We head down in a couple of stays!! 2y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The elder millennial in me goes for physical guide books along with fb groups, YouTube, etc. This was super helpful as I‘ve done significantly less research and planning for Universal as I have for Disney. This has amazing ride details and ratings. We‘re most excited for the Wizarding World, Marvel Super Hero Island, and Seuss Landing. Looking forward to the addition of their new (rumored) Nintendo-themed park set to open in 2025.

britt_brooke @Cinfhen I know you don‘t need to read this book, just tagging you for the sleeping pup pic. 💚🐾 2y

BookDadGirlDad The Wizarding World is so much fun. 2y
britt_brooke @LeahBergen Right! 😂 He‘s going to be so pissed come Friday when I drop him off at the kennel. Fortunately, he loves going there for daycare occasionally, so we‘re paying extra so he gets playtime every day we‘re gone. 2y
britt_brooke @BookDadGirlDad It looks amazing!! 2y
mjtwo Same - I love a physical guidebook. Ordered the Unofficial Guide to Disneyworld last night for our trip in Dec. We will only spend 1.5 days at Universal - really just want to visit Harry Potter. Is it still worth ordering, the Universal Guide too? 2y
britt_brooke @mjtwo It was worth getting the Universal guide for me (we‘re doing 2 days park-to-park), but if you‘re focusing mainly on HP, you‘re probably good without it. The Unofficial Disney guide is like 3x the size, lol, but you‘ll find some of the 2022 guide is already outdated because things are changing so quickly, so be sure to check the last news, too. 2y
Cinfhen Champ is so sweet!! Thanks for tagging me!! Have the BEST time!!! And I‘m right with you when it comes to guide books!!!! I love the physical copy in my hands/ turning the pages and shhhhh, don‘t tell but I dog ear pages🤫🤭😘 2y
