This was a sweet and emotional second chance romance that didn‘t shy away from the hard work needed to make love work between complicated and wounded people. This book was full of heart and hope.

Here is my #readyourkindle list! I‘m posting it before I look at @CBee post!
This was a sweet cozy romance set at a fantasy version of the GBBO. Arletta is the nonmagical human ever invited to participate in the Langheim Baking Battle. She makes some wonderful friends and meets a very handsome elf along the way. I would have liked Arletta to spend less time second guessing everything good that happened to her, but still an overall enjoyable took. @Sace & @CBee it was really sweet, you‘d totally enjoy it!
Penny is back in her hometown living with her grandmother and younger brother. She's just gotten out of an unhealthy relationship and is focusing on working on herself and spending time with her family. What she didn't expect is to get slowly and gently swept off her feet by one of the kindest romance heroes ever. Ryder grew up with an abusive father, who he now has to care for after a stroke left him incapacitated. (Cont.)
This book is a terrific blend of true crime, scandal and art history. The story of a woman who walked into one of the most famous art galleries in the world and convinced one of the most respected art dealers her forged painting was the real deal. Which lead to an $80 million dollar forgery ring that lasted years and pulled in/tricked many of the best art historians, authenticators and art connoisseurs. (Cont.)
It's apparent that the author did so much research to write this book, and I applaud her dedication to the story, the truth and her attempts to appear unbiased. This was a terrible tragedy and it appears as if justice wasn't truly served in the outcome of the trial. The police work and the trial itself were meticulously detailed and as the reader I was able to follow all the different lines of thinking and possible motives and outcomes. (Cont.)
Ready for some reading at the pool! #allurial
There is nothing better to read in July than a bantery rom-com set in a summer paradise and this book hits that mark. I enjoyed everything about this book. Lily & Ben have a wonderful sweet relationship full of support and growth. They had a wonderful apartment building (pool & bar anyone?) (cont.)
This book was just so much fun! Our heroine, Evie attempts to save her gym-bro neighbor from an zombie attack believing he can't defend himself, only to find out that he is a lethal vampire who is more than able to defend himself. He also has the nerve to get angry at Evie for attempting to save him (admittedly, throwing a burrito at a charging zombie is not super effective, but it was all she had at the moment). (Cont.)
Natalie Grove has spent her entire adulthood trying to figure out who killed her sister, while also writing mystery novels. Her latest novel is a fictionalized account of the story of her sister's murder, and with it's publication, Natalie becomes embroiled in a number of fantastical plots perpetrated by different people in her community who are trying to keep their own secrets from coming out. (Cont.)
Spent part of 4th of July vacation trip to Nashville at the Hot Chicken Festival and couldn‘t pass up the opportunity to pick up a couple books from the local Vanderbilt Press.
So it looks like the #readyourkindle spin this month is telling me to read some NetGalley books. 😂thanks for organizing @CBee
I‘m back in the game for the summer at least. A quarter of my list is #Netgalley since I‘m always behind. Thanks for organizing @CBee #readyourkindle
I missed the last couple months but I‘m back for the summer. Thanks for organizing @TheAromaofBooks #bookspin #bookspinbingo
I am such a fan of this series, that when the audiobook came up on Netgalley, I jumped on it so fast and could not put it down! Rosie has been such an interesting part of this series that it was lovely to see her get her own story. The world building in this book is just *chef's kiss*. Thank you so much to #Netgalley and #HachetteAudio for an Audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. (Cont)
This book was just so lovely and fluffy! Grace is a perfumer who gets caught up in a royal plot and Stephen is a Paladin dealing with lingering mental health issues from the death of his god. They meet when he saves her from charges of grave robbing and then he later saves her from fainting in public by dragging her into another room and accidentally foiling an assassination. (Cont.)
This is such a lovely and layered romance. Kriya Rajasekar is a lawyer who's moved to a new Law Firm and then been asked to share an office with her work nemesis Charles Goh. Every time something terrible/awkward happens to Kriya, Charles has been there, but it all changes once she realized how lost her life has become. (Cont.)
Often, people are so focused on finding the love of their lives, they don't pay attention to the rest of the love available around them. This book is an ode to the love between best friends and a discussion of how to find those people in your life.
In this terrific audiobook the Author, Kate Williams, takes on the the idea of hustle culture and reminds you that it's ok to take a step back or slow down. Our culture expects a "full speed ahead" lifestyle at all times and this book helps to break down these expectations with wit and humor.
Thank you to #Netgalley and #MacmillanAudio for an Audio ARC in exchange for an honest review of this book.
What a fun book! The story of Vanessa, a shy PR guru as she tries to make over the image of Pyro a Villian who wants to become good. This book is sometimes over the top and emotional in all the best ways.
I love all of Charlotte Stein's work, and this book is no exception. It focused on Nancy, who struggles to find love and Jack who is clueless about dating, mostly because is the son of satan, and has to learn lots about being a human as he goes along.
This book tells the true story of the murder of 25 year old Michael Stewart at the hands of a group of New York Transit Police and the fight for justice for this crime. Michael was a young black man who was beaten after being arrested for tagging a subway station. The crime was witnessed by numerous college students watching from their dorm yet somehow justice was never served.
This was just a wonderful and compelling second chance romance from a debut author! June, a struggling actor, and Adam, her former best friend and talented chef, used to live together at 74 Perry street. They are both shocked to find out that their former landlord has died and left the brownstone to them as joint new owners. June and Adam haven't spoken for 5 years after a friendship breakup that left them both hurting and angry.
Murder in the Dollhouse is the tragic story of Jennifer Dulos' disappearance. Jennifer was a beautiful woman who came from a wealthy and insulated background. Until her marriage, she was a woman searching for herself. She was an accomplished playwright in her younger years and from all accounts a kind and generous woman who ended up married to the wrong man. This marriage ultimately killed her.
This was a complicated book to read, both fascinating and ultimately heartbreaking. This story was Gypsy-Rose's opportunity to share her version of events. It was difficult to read of the complicated relationship she had with her mom. It provides a raw version of the life she led with her mother, and while I have extreme sympathy for her, I find it hard to decide where the truth actually lies.
This was a fun second chance/amnesia story. Dolly, the former assistant and fake wife of billionaire Ares, gets a phone call from Ares after an accident that has given him amnesia. He doesn't remember their last fight, or the fact they were in a fake marriage to protect his money.
This book was just a total hit for me. Lauren was so relatable as a mom of a teenager. The constant struggles of what to say and how to say it, how to reach out across the divide that happens at that age. Compound this with the grief they were dealing with and it makes for a lot of room for growth. I loved Lauren‘s growth and her reawakening of the stronger version of herself.
This book can be a really great resource and overview about Autism in women. It was informative and provided some great insight into how women were overlooked during research for so long, and the different ways that Autism presents in women. It would be a great resource for someone starting their journey into learning more about this topic.
This is a tragic true crime story about Nathan Carman. It opens with him being found floating in the middle of the North Atlantic on a raft, but instead of this rescue becoming the end of his story, instead it is only the beginning. This book covers the suspicious death of Nathan's mom on that same boat, and the shooting death of grandfather.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A tremendously entertaining and complex fantasy with a dash of romance. Kenna is a skeptical and determined human who unexpectedly enters the world of the Fae while trying to save her best friend.
Thank you to #NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is such a sweet story about two lost souls finding love. Tamzir is an alien stranded on earth and Jennette is a human who has always felt a little out of place in her life, and also happens to be obsessed with aliens. Jennette makes friends with a group of people online and becomes close with Tamzir's alter ego.
A great fantasy novel. I loved Silla and her growth through the course of the story. The world building is great!
A relaxing Wednesday evening!
Here‘s my belated #readyourkindle for this months. Thanks @CBee for organizing.
Hey all! I decided to finally join StoryGraph, come find me over there at CoffeeK8 too!
And here is my #readyourkindle list for this month. Thanks @CBee for organizing!
I‘m a little late, but didn‘t check under the spoiler tags, so here is my #bookspin list. Thanks @TheAromaofBooks
A raw and powerful book about love and loss. Michelle details the complicated relationship she had with her mom and the devastation her mom‘s cancer diagnosis and death wrought in her life. As a half-Korean American, the loss of her mom unmoored her from a part of her life and heritage she was desperate to keep. Her growth and confidence that came over time was compelling to read.
A sweet and surprisingly heartfelt regency romance.
Yay for my February #readyourkindle choices. I‘ve had some of these on my kindle for a while. The #20 choice was a NetGalley read so I chose the one that is due soonest. Thanks @TheAromaofBooks
An amazing and heartbreaking book about overcoming the traumas your parents inflict on you. #BOTM
