This true story outlines the life and Jewish upbringing of Harry Lenga in Poland. The early moments of Harry Lenga‘s life might have seemed insignificant, but they would shape him into the man who would face the darkest time in human history.

Impeccably researched, with copious notes and further reading materials listed in the back. There is some great information in this section that only enhances the main story. Don‘t overlook it!

A light historical fiction novel that uses the theme of fragrance and the life of Grace Kelly to propel the story forward. There aren‘t any deep revelations within this novel, but the book still ticked all of my boxes, i.e. historically accurate, enticing setting, likeable characters, and a well constructed plot. I also appreciate the fact that the authors left a small twist at the end, which kept it from being tied up too perfectly.

A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Getting cozy with Cormoran. I think it‘s safe to say that I am OBSESSED with this series. I‘m currently half way through the third book, Career of Evil, and loving every minute.

Ast_Arslan The third one is the best so far! 3y

Tattooedteacher I‘ve heard fantastic things about it. Historical fiction is my jam, so my mom and I are going to buddy read it. I‘m excited. I hope you enjoy it. 3y
Erika.M.Moody @Tattooedteacher That sounds lovely! I hope you both enjoy discussing it together. I‘m excited to read it and discuss it with my grandfather because he lived through a lot of the events that take place in the book. (edited) 3y

A refreshing historical novel about a young heiress and a colonial sugar plantation full of secrets. The story set in Barbados provides an insightful look at everyday life in the West Indies both pre and post emancipation. In many ways, the book reminded me of The Wide Saragasso Sea by Jean Rhys and captured much of the same feeling.

mavey When We Left Cuba is a great read with similar elements too! Do try if you haven't already😊 3y
Erika.M.Moody @Mavey I‘ve read Next Year in Havana and enjoyed it. I think I‘ve got a copy of When We Left Cuba on my kindle so I‘ll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation! 3y
