This looks intriguing! Need more WWI era literature!

Just_reading Agree! I wonder why there are so much fewer WWI novels than WWII? 5y
R.L.Walker @Just_reading I think because WWII is more romanticized. My students even prefer. I think it's because the good vs bad guy is hard to figure out in WWI. It led to WWII so we should read more about it. 5y

Interesting WW2 story intermingled with Cuba and 9/11. I enjoyed learning about those who were able to flee Germany, yet not all on the boats were lucky. Has relevant ties to modern problems too.
I found the stories of the 2 girls confusing at times but that might have been the point and had some dark thoughts moments.

One of the best things I like to do is set reading and writing goals with my students. It was great to beat my own challenge. #teachbydoing
Challenge accepted and exceeded! I know it's not 100 or more, but teaching, writing, and wedding planning took up a lot of reading time this year. :)

cassareada That's ok. I just started reading again this year (in August to be exact)and I've only read 10 books. I think reading is about the journey, not the destination. I'm setting a goal of 100 for 2019. I hope I can reach it with a move coming up. 5y
