Book of Challenges: Dungeon Rooms, Puzzles, and Traps | Skip Williams, Daniel Kaufman, Gwendolyn F. M. Kestrel, Mike Selinker

Anyone have any suggestions or resources for reading challenges in the new year?! I've seen Book Riot's read harder challenge but that may be *too* hard for me...

I really loved this book and how it showed the complexity of the mother-daughter relationship.

Bahahaha. Her cynical writing style reminds me of Chuck Palahniuk. Love it!

Loved this memoir. It was heartwarming and gut wrenching...I loved and hated many of the characters...it made me laugh out loud and cry...it made me long for Ireland and its beautifully complicated people. Loved!! Knocked another one off my @bookriot #readharder challenge!

Finally getting to sit down and read on this snowy day...I've got my cup of coffee, the toddler's asleep, the baby's playing next to me and the dog is about to pass out. Woohoo!

When I look back on my childhood I wonder how I survived it all. It was, of course, a miserable childhood: the happy childhood is hardly with your while. Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood is the miserable Irish childhood, and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood.

a.shelf.life This quote reminds me of my grandmother who doesn't look miserable at all in this picture, but who did not have it easy growing up... 7y

So...I'm not much of a graphic novel reader, however, after reading Ms. Marvel I was pleasantly intrigued. With that being said, I wasn't crazy about this story. The protagonist, Nimona, is portrayed as a hormonal, emotional teenager who joins up with the kingdom's evil villain. Quickly we get to see who is really good and who is really evil. It reminded me of "V for Vendetta" and was disappointingly predictable.

BibliophileMomma Have you read the Lumberjanes? I love them for some reason. 7y

Ok....so I loved this book! Number two off my#readharder challenge. It was definitely not your run of the mill cult novel. I enjoyed the character development and how the big, nail-biting scene was saved for the end. Although it takes a page out of the Manson family book, it's still a great read!

Knocked the first book off my #bookriot #readharder challenge...LOVED this! I loved the character of Kamala and her development. I loved that she's a Muslim hero and I loved that it was set in Jersey! An entertaining read...Will definitely read more in the series!

I don't know if you can tell, but those are the claws of my little monster who's refusing to take a nap!! Anyways, I cannot get going on "The Trespasser." I don't know what it is, but I read three pages and pass out!! Anyone else have this problem? Maybe I should read it to the little one and see if that puts her to sleep...

This was a very interesting, quick read. Early on, it reminded me of something by Chuck Palahniuk due to the narrator's disingenuous character and the supernatural plot line. Because it was so short, I didn't bother attempting to figure out the ending so the plot twists were pleasantly unexpected!

This book was great! It definitely caused some late night reading with babygirl sleeping on my chest...It was an easy read but Ware's main character, Lo, was compelling from the beginning. Being a social worker by day, I especially enjoyed her portrayal of Lo's mental health issues as it wasn't portrayed in a negative or exploitive manner. There were a lot of twists and turns that left me saying "wtf?!" Definitely recommend!

First things first, I did enjoy this book. It was a light/easy read and it more or less kept my attention. I usually dislike stories that switch between narrators and past and present, however, this had an interesting way of doing it that kept the story moving along nicely. With all of that being said, I found that the ending was a bit predictable which was a little disappointing.

That was part of being a girl—you were resigned to whatever feedback you‘d get. If you got mad, you were crazy, and if you didn‘t react, you were a bitch. The only thing you could do was smile from the corner they‘d backed you into. Implicate yourself in the joke even if the joke was always on you.
