Edie‘s grandmother has the knack of predicting the exact day a person is fated to meet their true love and she has a good track record. That‘s why Edie dismisses out of hand anyone she meets prior to her date. This is a fluff of a book that smart litany‘s - and that means all of you- will probably figure it out⭐️⭐️⭐️

On the flight over, he sits next to a young woman who, once they land, disappears even tho her best friend is there to pick her. Edie‘s grandmother has a record of predicting when members of her family will meet the partner they are fated to be with and Edie constructs her entire life around the date. I think this was a simplistic plot with plot points visible from a mile away.

Five writers, supposedly well known in the crime genre, are invited to a retreat in North Dakota for a week to hone their craft. The characters are not well fleshed out and I didn‘t get the feeling they were notable authors. Parts of this book were just preposterous. If I say that I guessed a connection it will sound like I‘m bragging about how clever I am. Not at all. Just a paper thin plot any of you would be able to suss out

One of the worst books I ever read. A resort in the Catskills in the middle of winter. Guests arrive. Maybe it‘s because I have lived in Florida most of my life that I can‘t fathom spending a weekend freezing my butt off. Naturally someone dies - an accident? a murder? Do you care? My guess is no. A perfect example of telling and not showing. The dialog was stilted and a couple of things were just ridiculous. Read the phone book instead.

High schoolers throw a party at a house in the middle of construction and it gets wildly out of hand. This book has a little more substance in that it raises questions of class and privilege and the repercussions to collateral characters. Lies and rumors and financial loss to the construction company and its workers as well as the trauma and expense to the already over leveraged homeowners gives you lots of food for thought.

In the ‘70s, Go Ask Alice came out, purportedly the diary of a 15-year old girl who got into drugs and died. There was a frenzy among parents and the government alike. Satanism, misinformation about LSD, pot, all impelled by the editor of the diary, Beatrice Sparks who subsequently produced other “diaries”. The press was complicit and it seemed such a herd mentality that no one stopped to think and ask questions. Rick Emerson does a good job

A mysterious woman asks him to track down her husband who she believes is stealing precious books from her family. The next day the real wife, an acclaimed author shows up. I believe it‘s semi autobiographical as the author left a large firm. I just found it a tedious read and kept dozing off.

You can‘t look away because this book is stunningly bad! There is really no suspense in the story of Molly, an aspiring writer and Jake, a rocker on the rise. Throw in Sabrina who is obsessed with both and you have a tell not show book. Too much floppy hair and tears running down cheeks and same being wiped away and so much booze. Do yourself a favor and look away immediately. I almost gave it a pan. It was close. Even my car Cassie was bored.

I like Ruth Ware and some of her books. This was not one of them. Three quarters of the book is the MC, Hannah Jones‘ anguish that her testimony sent the wrong man to prison for the murder of her roommate. Repetitious to the point that I wanted to say move along already. I also didn‘t think there was much mystery. Read it and tell me I was way off base. I‘ll accept the criticism. Off to find my next read. Happy reading Littens !

BookLineNSinker I totally agree with you!! I was starting to second guess myself because of all the reviews from people who loved it but it was too much for me. It was a lot of storylines and things that didn't make sense to me.. I am going to try The Lying Game and see if I like that. 2y

I actually had this on my TBR pile when I stumbled on it in the library. And a good thing too because I got really sick of these whiny women and would have returned it. There is a mystery plot which wasn‘t bad but women in their 30s who are college graduates should have more sense and not be so dependent on men. I am not anti-men so no letters please (LOL) but these women lived inside their own minds and lacked the courage to confront their mates.

Pickpick

Criticizing the plot of a Elin Hilderbrand novel is like being mean to a puppy. It‘s hard to do. You know what you get in her books - the ultimate beach read where you can put your brain on hold and just go with it. In this book the Hotel Nantucket is being renovated by a man with buckets of money. Lizbet Keaton is the general manager. Misunderstandings, romance, lies. Have fun. If you can‘t take a vacation this summer, your brain can.

Pickpick

Fast reading. Homecoming is about a lawyer who left his family and the country but now wants to come back. Strawberry Moon concerns a young man on death row and if you are anti-execution, it makes a powerful statement. The book title novella concerns 2 lawyer partners who can‘t stand each other. Their father is in prison for killing their mother. There is some humor in it. The problem with novellas is you want them to go on longer

This book is called a gripping psychological thriller packed with suspense. The only suspense here is how this dreadful book got published. A wife suspects her husband had a part in the murder of his friend when they were in high school in a bomb shelter on the property that they used as a clubhouse. She manages to get into the house while the current owners are away for a month to dig up the shelter all by herself. Ridiculousnesses ensues.
