A girl travels with her yellow robot across 1997 America where society has collapsed thanks to some VR-like helmets.
The story feels quite unfinished and full of gaps, but it's really awesome nonetheless. If you like science fiction and/or dystopian and/or graphic novels, this is a must read. The artwork is eerily beautiful.

'The novel ends with one of the most reverberating shocks in modern crime fiction.'
Well I guess the problem is with me then. The twist at the end really is neat, but I didn't enjoy the whole of the book. Instead of being intrigued and interested I was mostly annoyed and frustrated. I didn't like the detective and I wasn't much impressed with the writing (maybe the translation wasn't the best either). ⬇️

starlight97 I think I might've bailed if not for respect for the person who recommended it to me. 7mo
starlight97 What I liked about the book is that it taught me new things about a topic I didn't know much about (this time about Claude Monet and his legacy) and it did that well. 7mo

This book's magical system is the most obscure I've ever read. I still don't get most of it. And I know the author warns that his books are quite different from each other, but I expected something more along the line of The Broken Empire trilogy (which I loved). Well, my bad. I'm not saying this was a complete waste of time, definitely not, but I don't think I'll continue to read this series. 💔

This is a graphic dramatization of the Ed Gein case – the one that inspired the character of Norman Bates in the book and movie Psycho and partially the character of Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs.
