Like so many other young Westerners in the 60s and 70s, Matteo leaves home to search for spiritual enlightenment in the ashrams of India. So if a westerner ventures off to an ashram in India is that cultural appropriation or appreciation? I‘m not sure but this book takes us into an ashram and probably the sentiment most stark to me was the native occupants contempt for the venturing westerners amongst them. A ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌜from me.
