Mike Davis is a righteous guy who's written several books on large-scale socioeconomic trends that often go unnoticed in the Western world, despite the fact that they affect a large portion of the world's population. For that reason alone I'm making this a "pick", though I have to admit it's incredibly data-heavy throughout and can be a slog to get through, like reading a particularly bright PhD candidate's doctoral thesis.
Chrissyreadit This sounds like content I would love but based on your review in cliff notes. 4y
The_Penniless_Author @Chrissyreadit It definitely could have benefited from some narrative-driven elements- more firsthand reporting from some of the cities he describes, or more focus on individuals residing in those cities. The info is fascinating, but a few spoonfuls of sugar would have made it a lot easier to take. 4y
