Wow. This book is amazing. The main character is very well drawn. Written in geordie vernacular but as I live here not a problem for me.
Devoured this book. Shocking, troubling but captivating. It unravels itself gradually and doesn‘t take the obvious turns. Whether the ending is entirely satisfying I‘d debate but I can forgive that for the way it had submerged me in the lives f the protagonists. Not, repeat not for anyone who wants to avoid animal cruelty though.
What a stunning novel! The story opens with the immediate aftermath following a 14 year old boy‘s killing of his abusive father, a “traveller ” and a bare knuckles fighting man. This beautifully written book is brutally violent, yet is balanced by compassion. Fans of Elmet by Fiona Mozley will definitely want to read this. One of the best books I‘ve read this year. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
