I tackled this 1400-page, 19th century tome as an audiobook and overall I quite enjoyed it. However, there were long sections of musings, ponderings and thought turmoil which seemed to take hours before the story eventually moved on and I found these parts to be really hard work. The essence of the story is good and because of that I watched the film version immediately after which I found much less arduous! A pick, but only just ⭐️⭐️⭐️

ulrichyumiodd I‘ve heard he was paid by the word, and I find the length hilarious for that reason ? I had to read excerpts of Les Misérables (in French, which is my mother tongue) for school, but never felt compelled to read all of it. 7d

This is such a good book and the whole series has been top notch. I don‘t remember what compelled me to read book 1 when it was published back in 2016, but every book has been a joy. Hilary‘s writing is faultless and her stories are gripping, tense and very clever. They wouldn‘t work as standalones as the personal lives of the two main detectives continue through the series. I think these books would work really well as TV crime dramas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don‘t think there‘s a better seasonal writer than Sarah Morgan and this book certainly doesn‘t disappoint. Full of fun and happiness, heartache and misunderstandings and a feel-good vibe, A Wedding in December soothes your Christmas itch very nicely. Easy to read and uncomplicated, this cosy is a perfect seasonal pacifier ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Birdsong28 I had to get a book this morning for my mum that was coming out today and they hadn't put the new releases out but I thought there was another book due today so I looked on my wish list for Amazon and it was this! I thought how could I forget Sarah Morgan!!!!! 🤦‍♀️📚 📖 3w
Ms_T @Birdsong28 How could you, Victoria?! 😂Are you getting this one for your mum? 3w
Birdsong28 @Ms_T No she doesn't read romances like this she likes saga books and Danielle Steel when she does read as she isn't a big reader like us. I bought her the tagged book, I also got myself a copy as she likes to bend the cover round 😱 so it ruins the book and I can't read it properly. 3w

I remember when I read this book first time round and considered it my least favourite, mainly because Edward is missing for a huge part of the story. Now though, it really hit the spot and I tore through it. You can see how the tale is developing, the threads are growing and the vampire/werewolf families are inter-mingling. I‘m diving right in to book three! 🖤🖤🖤🖤

After reading and thoroughly enjoying Final Girls, I immediately purchased this book and was excited to get stuck in to another brilliant thriller. That wasn‘t the case for me. The plot started well enough but became drawn out and downright ridiculous towards the end. I‘m so disappointed.

As a side note, I read this as a Kindle ebook and it contains more typos than any other book in my Kindle library. It is shockingly bad 😤

It‘s the first time I‘ve listened to this as audio, rather than reading the physical book, and it‘s just as good as the previous three times I‘ve experienced the story. A more sombre book than its prequel PS, I Love You, Postscript is set seven years after the death of Holly‘s husband and portrays how she has coped, and is still coping, with life, love and loss. A large portion of this book is incredibly sad with many lump-in-your-throat moments, but oh my goodness the final few chapters! The author has handled this type of storytelling with truth and compassion and the narration was excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A really good story of how one woman copes with the death of her husband through letters he wrote before his passing. There‘s also support from family and friends who help Holly as she navigates through life seeking work, holiday fun and Christmas celebrations, all without her childhood sweetheart. This book will be a particular hit with fans of Jojo Moyes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An incredibly powerful story of a time that was so unpleasant. Faulks weaves a fictional tale with actual events to make the story resonate and can‘t help but feel impacted by the horrors of World War I. From the very first page I knew I was going to love this book. It‘s disturbing, darkly erotic and unabashedly gothic. The concept of this book is unusual yet inspired and Grenouille, the main character, is frighteningly creepy, moving from social outcast to man most hated, then man adored. An incredibly good read and one I‘ll certainly read again. Also, that cover is beautiful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a beautiful story. The author has tackled an uncomfortable subject with frankness & compassion. Leon is nine years old and after a fraught start to his life is struggling to deal with emotions he doesn‘t understand. The loss he feels sends Leon on a path of despair. The child perspective of this book works wonderfully while Maureen provides the anchor he so desperately needs. A really touching read with lots of lump-in-the-throat moments. 5⭐️

Freespirit Great review! 4mo

If you‘re after a quick read that‘s not too taxing, this is perfect. There‘s no doubting who the author is, with its style mirroring the Fifty Shades of Grey series, but I was expecting that and wasn‘t disappointed. There‘s a fair amount of sex but the prevailing theme is a love story and if you‘re a sucker for a fairytale, this works really well.

Although it‘s received mixed reviews on Litsy, I really enjoyed this book. It‘s the story of the pressures teenagers find themselves under and how that can lead to hero-worshiping and some really bad decisions. The writing style is lovely and the story draws you in. Told in two different time perspectives which gradually pull the plot together, and there‘s an ending that‘s very satisfying ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

TrishB I thought it was a good read 👍🏻 4mo

I love a Kindle collection and here are samples of nine of this year‘s Man Booker Prize long list. Three are yet to be released in the UK and one I‘ve already read (My Sister, The Serial Killer.) I‘m most intrigued by Ducks, Newburyport.... 🤔

ephemeralwaltz I'm very intrigued as well; 4mo
Ms_T @ephemeralwaltz It simply has to be investigated... 4mo
AnneCecilie That the longest of the novels, 1.000p and 8 sentences if I‘ve understood it correctly. I think that‘s the one I will wait the longest to read, if ever, depending on reviews and if it wins or make it to the shortlist 4mo
Ms_T @AnneCecilie It‘s certainly one that‘s got people talking! 4mo

I loved this. It‘s a story of an unlikely friendship, mirrored lives, misfortune, ghosts of the past, and a soupçon of magic. Alice Hoffman has written a tale that‘s gentle and seamless with final chapters that have you reaching for a tissue. Just lovely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
