1 post | 2 read | 2 to read
Required reading... " _Elizabeth Fernea, The University of Texas at Austin If a reader were to select only one book in order to gain insight into women's status and prospects in Islamic society, this study should be the one chosen for its clarity, honesty, depth of knowledge and thought-provoking qualities." _Arab Book World In this expanded and updated edition, with a new introduction on Muslim women and fundamentalism, Mernissi argues that Islamic fundamentalism is in part a defense against recent changes in sex roles and perceptions of sexual identity.

After some searching, I finally found this book at an in-state library.

It‘s a study on how Islam and even Christianity correlate women and their sexuality as something that needs to be regulated and controlled, and it‘s affects on Male-female roles within faith. It‘s a very feminist book, authored by a Muslim woman, that I‘ve been eager to read since it was recommended to me. I‘m so excited I finally found it.
