A noir classic. Lew Archer is hired to find a missing rich man in Southern California by his disabled wife, but the missing man - and his family - are not what they seem.

The first book in the Lew Archer series establishes the character and atmosphere well. Archer is a bit less jaded here, which was interesting for me because I‘ve read most of the series already (completely out of order of course). This is a good series. Also saw Ross Macdonald‘s Canadian roots with the use of the word « chesterfield » ?
One of several hoarded Lew Archers to be read later 😁
#emojinov day 27: 🎯
The first Lew Archer novel. A nice solid, world weary, hard boiled detective story. A good read to spend the night with while drinking a glass of whiskey.
