Once Upon a Time in Beverly Hills
Once Upon a Time in Beverly Hills | Elaine Franklin
1 post | 1 read
Overweight in Beverly Hills? That's frowned upon. Overweight in show business? Ahh, that's almost illegal, and Joanna Leighton, a designer on television, jokes about it until she's told to lose weight, or lose her job.If only she didn't adore chocolate. If only desserts didn't call out to her. If only.....She makes a wish on an unusual ring in an antique store, asking to be skinny. Miraculously, her wish comes true, her body is shrinking daily, and at first it feels like champagne pouring through her heart. But her friends and family believe she has an eating disorder. Her happy marriage becomes emotionally charged, the television hostess wants her fired, and Joanna's movie star client decides she's now worthy of his extreme private attention.Joanna's world has tumbled out of its orbit, and all she wants is the life she used to have, but the antique store has disappeared, and she can't find her way back to her husband and friends. Once Upon a Time is the true story what happens when if only comes true.

I found this book on GoodReads/Amazon and am so glad I did! It's such a wonderful story that gently mocks the need for media personalities (not to mention everyone in our culture ) to be thin. It's a totally fun read with lots of comical moments following three best friends in their forties as they navigate their lives and loves in Beverly Hills. The most relaxing book I've read in a long time ❣❣❣
