I watched the movie with Keira Knightley when it first came out and I fell in love with the fashion and customs of the era however I disliked the movie itself very much. At that moment I knew the book just had to be better to have stood the test of time and of course I bought it...and it's been sitting on my shelf ever since.

BooksTeasAndBookishThings Awww I hate you didn't love the movie, I thought Joe Wright did such a beautiful job with his depiction. Any time he and Keira do a movie together, I will be the first in line. I have loved them all so far. But, the book is still better 🙌 I hope when you do read it that you love it ❤️ 8y
JoRead @BooksTeasAndBookishThings perhaps if I had read the book I could have followed the movie better. I don't understand why the director chose to set the story in a theater. When I first watch it I thought that was how the story was written! 😂😂 8y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings Haha 😂 no, not a play, but I really did love his take on it. I think my favourite part was the dance that then turned to fireworks. That and the way he captured the farming, that was very true to the book. After you have read it, and you watch again, let me know if you like 😉 8y
JoRead I loved the waltz! My grandma always talked about waltzes and dresses in a way that sounded magical. The ballroom scenes reminded me of her stories 😍 8y
