Years ago I saw the author of this book on a tv show with his daughter talking about how this idea came to be. I was impressed & wanted to read more about it. They believe that if you give away half of what you have those who have little can have more. It is a good & thought provoking story but the book itself didn‘t impress me as much as the family did when I saw them on tv.
And here's another fun photo challenge #DecemberDreams hosted by the lovely @Eggs and @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks that can also be used for #WinterGames points

A part of the book that really stood out to me was at the end when they all had a dance party. In younger grades I feel like this is important because who doesn't love a good dance party but it also shows they that its okay to be you in your community.
This book is a thoughtful read that helps children understand the value of being apart of a community and sharing with others. I believe that this book shows how one little act of kindness can go a long way.
#AutumnPlease! Give a #Sweater or a scarf if you can spare one (or two), because kindness makes the world go round. A recent Libby find. Review is forthcoming.
4 ⭐This book may be a little long, but the story is heartfelt. It is about a selfish king who wants presents and gifts from everybody. The one present he can‘t have is a quilt from the lady in the mountains. She only makes quilts for people who can‘t afford them. She tells the king give of yourself and I will make you a quilt. The king will not do this. Instead, he punishes the old lady and in turn just punishes himself.
With beautiful illustrations evoking folk art traditions and sensitive storytelling, Babushka tenderly reminds us that nothing is more important during the holiday season than taking the time to show love for one another. This timeless Russian tale will warm your heart and fill you up with the joyful, generous spirit of Christmas. (December 14, 2022)
