I really loved this one! Woman finds herself alone, unemployed, and unsatisfied and takes a spur of the moment trip that will change her life. A literary bus ride through the UK? Yes, please! When she discovers all the other tour members are centenarians, the bus is less than modern, and the driver enjoys messing with her, will she find a way to enjoy herself? 😉 Reader, she will! #netgalleygroup #BookspinBingo #Doublespin

My favorite of the series. All the elements come together in a terrific space opera. Great characters, twists and turns, complex plot, and of course terrific world building.

November #SeasonalCozies and #DoubleSpin

This cozy series is just so much fun to read. The characters, the setting and weaving funny with serious issues are all so well done.

The Magnificent Century | Thomas B. Costain

#TodayILearned what a terrible leader Henry III was. That's probably why there aren't many films or books devoted to him. Still, I'm really enjoying Costain's Plantagenet series. It's very readable, even if some of the feelings and thoughts the author attributes to these real-life characters might have involved some guesswork.

kwmg40 This book was an appropriate choice for the “Cursola: Read the oldest book on your TBR“ prompt for #gottacatchemall, as it had sat on my shelves for about 40 years! @PuddleJumper 1d

When Trying to Return Home: Stories | Jennifer Maritza McCauley

This short story collection was more hits than misses. She examines the intersection of being Black and Puerto Rican in America.

It‘s bookended by stories about a college girl who joins a convent. The first told by the men lusting after her and the final story by her. Another hit was a multiple perspective story about a man married to one sister while in love with and a father to the other‘s children. #doublespin

Megabooks And yes, my mom kept the geranium blooming into November, but today looks to be the last warm day of the year! 2d

Not tagged book, I'm not sure if this one's been translated into English.

If this was my first Ogawa, I wouldn't have read any other of her books. Hiroyuki is way too perfect, which makes a dull character. Then there whole plot is too “male-centered“, even though we have different female characters the book would not pass the Bechdel test.

My #DoubleSpin for this month was a quick read that spoke to my Hobbit self. Someday, I want to live somewhere surrounded by trees, even if that means I have to plant them myself.

Normal Women | Philippa Gregory
post image
Pickpick

Philippa Gregory is known for historical fiction about royalty but this is nonfiction about the normal women who are often left out of the history books. It was VERY detailed and it was interesting to see all the challenges women have faced over time. Ideally, i think this one should be read in short installments. I‘ll probably come back to again in the future to absorb a bit more detail.

This was my #DoubleSpin for November.
