May's mid-month #bookspinbingo check-in.
I've completed both the #bookspin and #doublespin picks and am having a harder and harder time choosing what to read next as my brain is all over the place lol

Enjoyed the start of this series. Liked the characters and the plot. I appreciated that the author slowly developed the storyline and the backstreet unfolded organically. 4🌟

#DoubleSpin selection for May @TheAromaofBooks
Kevin Wilson writes quirky novels that I usually love in their strangeness. This book of short stories gives you little bites of that, each one showing a character doing their best to struggle through a challenging life event.
I only rate it so-so because I‘m not a short story fan. It‘s a good collection, I just prefer novels.
Isn‘t this cover weird and wonderful? It fits one of the stories.

The cover is gorgeous, I love the concept, but ultimately the book was… fine.
Maddie has been visiting Havenfall, the inn managed by her uncle, since she was a child. She finds a refuge there that offers love and friendship and magic… and solace from the grief of her life outside Haven. The concept of an inn at the crossroads of ancient, magical worlds is so promising, and the intrigue and power dynamics could have been compelling, but ⤵️
Continuing my exploration of the Tudor period with this #doublespin choice. I bought it after hearing the author on a history panel discussing Henry VIII and enjoyed the last book I read by her (tagged in comments.) @TheAromaofBooks
#doublespin I enjoyed this more than the first instalment, better character development & and more interesting ‘mystery‘ - looking forward to reading the next in the series!
Sometimes a girl just needs to read a boy book and a good ol‘ western fits that bill. (This is not a story where the indigenous people‘s perspective is considered -so there is that). I saw this movie years back with Leonardo DiCaprio playing the part of Hugh Glass as he‘s viciously mauled by a grizzly bear. But I gotta say, reading an account of that attack might have been even more visceral.
May #DoubleSpin Cat: Pub in Aughts
Throwing in the towel in this one…I just don‘t have the headspace for it during all the craziness that is May. I‘m not sure if it‘s a DNF or a Not-Right-Now…
It‘s my May #doublespin pick. @TheAromaofBooks
Not the tagged book, but the newest one by the same author.
Whenever I start a book by Brandon Q. Morris I think I might have had enough of his works. And whenever I continue reading his books, he gets me hooked.
Happened here as well. The characters are all 50+, which I think is a fresh idea to the usual trope of sending teenagers into space 😉
Also loved Number 4, such a cute and lovable... well, robot? AI? Whatever, it's cute and adorable.
