It's not just our children who need rescue. It's not just our children who forget God and do foolish things. It's not just our children who want their own way. It's not just our children who make it all about them. We do all of these things too and because we do, or daily need for God's rescue and forgiveness is just as great as our children's is.

We have far too high a view of our ability to shape or children and far too low a view of God's love and trustworthiness.
