Wayward Son | Rainbow Rowell
Pickpick

Wayward Son doesn't offer much closure to character or plot arcs, which makes me sad, but the writing is fantastic as always and the emotions are very real. Crying-in-my-bed-as I-read-type real. The lack of closure was almost enough to make me rate it So-So, but the book is too good for that. It left me really wanting the third book.

Liatrek I really hope we don‘t have to wait long for the next one and that it doesn‘t have five different covers that l‘ll desperately want to buy 😊 1mo
smolgaysnowbazshipper Yes, me too. I preordered my Wayward Son in May, so I couldn't get either of the special covers because they hadn't been released yet 😢 1mo
smolgaysnowbazshipper But Rainbow said she won't make us wait four years again. So, I'm thinking, probably more like three and a half years.
Or five.

When books are damaged from rereading, I think of it as a badge of honor. Mine used to break in half once I'd read them enough, but then I'd have to get more of them, so now you can tell which books I read the most because the pages are really severely lined and creased.

Al Capone Does My Shirts | Gennifer Choldenko
Pickpick

It's a really good book. I was concerned about the portrayal of Natalie, a fourteen-year-old girl who's one of the main characters. She appears to have low-functioning Autism. However, that concern was mostly addressed in the acknowledgements.

blurb
smolgaysnowbazshipper

I like the concept, the information I've learned, and some of the humorous bits, but I don't like the writing. It's as convoluted as one might expect from a 120-year-old book, and there are sections where Freud just talks. That could be based on my disliking of Freud himself, who was sexist, but it can't be because I learned about it after I decided I didn't like the book.
If you're interested in learning from it, cool. But I don't recommend it.

Well-written, major character development, all in all a great book. It gets kind of slow at some parts, though.

Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel | Eoin Colfer, Andrew Donkin
Mehso-so

The art is good, but the characters aren't the right heights, and a lot of the dialogue has been shortened and edited and many of the conversations that made me laugh and drew me to the series aren't there anymore. I love the original book, though, and I strongly suggest reading it.

QueenLittleLizard I say just skip the graphic novels altogether. Stick to the original books. 6mo

Really nice cap to the Heroes of Olympus series. Funny as usual, wraps up some loose ends, gives some more loose ends to continue in the next series. Great book!

QueenLittleLizard Ugh. I thought that was a TERRIBLE ending. 6mo
