Catching up on some belated September birthdays now my fever has gone. The Great Gatsby as aliens? Yes, it works - so much so I'm going to check out Greenberg's graphic version of Hamlet. It's not abridged so it weighs a tonne but it's worth it. How Greenberg renders Daisy so feelingly even though Daisy is a crying alien I'm not sure, but Greenberg manages it.
