I have never read a book about the Bubonic Plague and this sounded fascinating. I loved how it started with a flea‘s perspective of the plague. Most of the chapters start with an account of the plague from the animals that passed it along. Elaisse started out as a very annoying brat but she becomes much more likable. There is some romance mixed in the story but overall it‘s an imaginative tale of a very real horror in history.
