Sr. Margaret an Irish nun, Zarine a young Parsi widow and Hema a South Indian working woman cross paths at a time when trials and tribulations are aplenty in their lives. Set in newly independent India, the story traces their lives which interesect and forge a bond that helps each one discover beauty and grace in the midst of tragedy, hardships and heartbreak. Inspired by Sr. Margaret, Zarine and Hema make decisions far beyond their experience and maturity taking responsibility for their children's welfare above their means or station in life. Endearingly tender and filled with imagery of the time, the characters explore, challenge and overcome personal obstacles with disarming sincerity. Similar to a visit with an old friend, going through a precious scrapbook or reading letters exchanged during the time of snail mail.
