This is my first book by this author and I wasn‘t sure what to expect, but the creepiness was off the charts. It was a slow burn at the beginning but then it took a really dark turn!

Not exactly what I was expecting. I thought this would be more about the axe murders and murderers throughout history. Instead, it's more a history of the axe with some murders thrown in. I enjoyed the first half of the book, looking at before the 1700s. James had me engaged during the first half of the book. It involves prehistoric time and up til the 1700s (cavemen, Egyptians, and Henry VIII), while the latter focused on George ⬇️
Finished this audio yesterday. I liked it better than the first one. Anne Boleyn is on her way to execution and Henry VIII has his eyes on Jane Seymour. This was shorter than Wolf Hall.

This book is very odd but that's on brand for this author. Klimt, Schiele and Dr Frankenstein are all characters. I love books about painting and you never know what you're getting into with this dude. Reading this in Vienna was an extra bonus.

May's mid-month #bookspinbingo check-in.
I've completed both the #bookspin and #doublespin picks and am having a harder and harder time choosing what to read next as my brain is all over the place lol

This is the story the KKK‘s rise to prominence in the state of Indiana and throughout the US and the crime and subsequent court case that resulted in the high-water mark for the organization‘s power and influence. This is American history that everyone should know, but that no one learns in school. I was left wondering, if it wasn‘t for Grand Dragon D.C. Stephenson‘s violent and criminal behavior, how much more power would the Klan have amassed?
This author is highly entertaining. I will read anything she's willing to put out into the world. Her author photos alone are epic.

Started this because I love the tagline ("be gay, solve crime, take naps") and it all sounded fun (and of course it's on my #BookSpinBingo card), but I'm not entirely sure if it's for me. Not sure what's bothering me, just... vibes. I'm cognisant that it's longer than 400 pages, so I might just be getting daunted due to most of my reading being significantly shorter than that. Silly, but it's a thing that does happen to me these days.
Mid-May check in. 2 bingos so far and a lot of enjoyable reading time. 💙📚💙
