I love Sarah Morgan and this book didn‘t disappoint. A wonderful cast of characters and setting. A Scottish family coming together for Christmas, each with their own worries & plans. The grandmother is hilarious. My favorite read so far this month.

TheAromaofBooks I loved this one!!! Although I wanted to spend more time with Lucy 😂 I would have loved to see this book as a trilogy with one book for each sibling because I loved all these characters so much! 6h

I started this book on December 21, 2024, and finished it tonight on January 20, 2025.
One reason it took me a month to read is that it is a chunkster of a book. I, also, went down the rabbit hole, which I seem to do when I read a history book. The Fate of the Day covers the American Revolutionary War from 1777-1780. It's the 2nd volume in The Revolution Trilogy.

I thought I knew a lot about the Revolutionary War. It's a subject we are ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read taught about in school, though I have been out of school for 33 years. I learned a lot from this book. I obviously missed part of it in school, was never taught some parts, or I have forgotten some of it. For instance, I knew that France helped America during the war, but I never knew that the Germans helped Britain. Or, the Indians helped both sides, and sometimes, the same Indians helped both sides at the same time. One thing that surprised me was that they hung people who helped the British without a trail.

Atkinson takes you on an adventure through this time in the American Revolution. He takes you from America to France with Benjamin Franklin, as well as Britain and Ireland. Even though it took me a month to read, because I was reading other books along with this one (I usually have 6 or 7 books going at a time), I enjoyed it. If you love history, I recommend this book to you.

Tentative Publication Date: April 29, 2025

I won an ARC through a Goodreads Giveaway. Thanks to Goodreads, Penguin Random House, Crown Publishing, and Rick Atkinson for the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

It felt fitting to finish this one today. A powerful account of one woman‘s fight against censorship and her right to free speech as the book banners in her community attacked her relentlessly and without cause. This is happening to librarians and citizens all over the US as white nationalists try to take our country back decades. I was angered, informed, and inspired. I highly recommend! #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Very cute, but probably could‘ve been shorter. An enjoyable read, and I‘d be open to reading the other books in the series!

Maybe I would‘ve liked this more if it weren‘t too similar in plot & theme as a couple of other books I‘ve recently read. Nice writing, but kinda blah. In this story, estranged sisters come back together and work through grief and trauma following the discovery of their mother‘s body- 15 years after she disappeared. #bookspinbingo #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

I really enjoyed the first volume. I've wanted to read this for ages after watching bits and pieces of the show. It is very different from the show and I think much better.

Guo Changcheng was definitely my favourite. I related to him so much.

There was mystery, mythology, pining, and longing looks, all the good stuff.

I do hope the secondary characters get some development. It was great to see more of Wang Zheng and her past. Love to see more of the others.

#weekendreads finished tagged & adored! Takes a WHILE to get into. You get the gritty arena juxtaposed by the sweet romance although insta-love tied with political commentary & magical creatures 🖤

#currentread for a fable group. Half through & at the point where its about to go from 30 to 10364849. Sooooooo… should finish in a day/two since the MCs tension is too high for me atm 😆

CloakNQuill & I finished while waiting at the doctor today 😂 @TheAromaofBooks ill add to my bingo board this week #bookspinbingo 1d

I don‘t get the big deal about this book. It started off well but then it dragged. The premise is great though, and weirdly, I wanted Raskolnikov to get away with it! 😂 I didn‘t totally hate this book but I didn‘t love it either. I am glad to say that now I‘ve read this classic!

This is a really well done audiobook. Even if the story itself is a bit implausible. I did not read the first book. I think they are pretty loosely tied.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The first book I read this year is The Woman in Cabin 10. I had it on my shelf for a long time and finally decided to read it. I was immediately sucked into the story. With every chapter I was more surprised. I really did not see it coming. Especially not this ending. It was really quite a surprise. However, the story is missing a little something to give it a fifth star.

maich This year I made a #bookjar. For every book I read, I will put 1€ inside. We'll see how many coins I'll save up. 2d
