Le rocher de Tanios | Amin Maalouf

Prix Goncourt 1993.

When my brother takes me outside and brings a book along, which has never happened before, I must -obviously- steal it from him😄 That's what siblings do! 📖🛣

This story loosely inspired by true events set in a village in the Lebanese mountains during the 19th Century is described with great detail by the Lebanese/French author Amin Maalouf.
Despite being a little boring at times, the characters felt real and were interesting.
I'll sure look into more of this author's books.

In my Quest to diversify the books i read, i decided to start with a french novel by an author from my own country. Amin Maalouf is a renowned Lebanese author, his books are praised by the french critics. Reading right now The Rock Of Tanios, and it's quite good!
Looking forward to reading more non-english books this year 😎 󾓧 󾓪 󾓫🇱🇧

LubicaP Samarkand is also good, although I found the early 20th century storyline a little OTT. I hope you enjoy The Rock of Tanios! 8y
YaraB You should try Les Désorientés too 8y

i loved this book I read it a while back and it still pushes me to think about the ending. You can feel insode it the love of Amin Maalouf for his contry Lebanon (which is my country too😁😁). And the story keeps you hanging from beginning till the end. even when you are done you're still think about it. I may have researched the ending a couple of times to find out what really happened to the character 😂😂😂
