This book is a good piece of creative non-fiction and is both a memoir of the author's time in Antarctica, and growing up in Canada. I liked reading both aspects of this book - I'm just not sure how well they worked together. But it's worth reading just for the Antarctic stuff - I learnt so much!

Antarctica is my favourite place to read about, but I rarely pick up modern books about it - I usually stick with books written by the Antarctic explorers of the 1900s. But so far ICE DIARIES is really enjoyable.
