This was such a cool book. It‘s a coffee table book style guide to Epcot that was published while Epcot was still being built, so it‘s full of concept art, models, and behind the scenes photos of the park being built. It was fascinating to learn about the original concept behind Epcot as an educational World‘s Fair, attractions that no longer exist, and especially attractions that were meant to exist and never came to be like the Africa pavilion.

The pavilion that never happened: Africa. This is why there‘s an awkwardly wide gap with not much going on between China and Germany. Sounds like it would‘ve been really neat with two shows, live drummers and performers, and a tree house that overlooks an immersive jungle diorama. I hope they eventually put a new pavilion in that space.

The irony of Kraft teaching kids about a balanced diet is deeply amusing to me.

Here are my most recent pics from The Land. Is the interior design weird for Disney or am I just missing something?! (ok the hot air balloons are awesome)

This is the part of Epcot that baffles me every time I‘m there because at least in its current state, it looks like a dated mall food court inside with airport waiting rooms and very out of place and the rides are fun, but the theme seems to be “miscellaneous” and I just can‘t figure out what they‘re going for! Maybe this chapter will help enlighten me on this weird building at Epcot!

“...Even if you don‘t understand the first thing about computers, through curiosity, fascination, or maybe even out if desperation, you are going to walk up to one of these infernal machines, you are going to touch it in the appropriate place, and you are going to find out exactly what you wanted to know. Pretty soon you‘re going to wish you had a computer in your own home. And who knows? Someday you may. Welcome to the twenty-first century!”

They have agreed to negotiate and are so graciously allowing me to read part of 1 page. #catsoflitsy

I was going to read my great 1980s EPCOT Center coffee table book, but I took too long to get settled and please help. 😭😱#catsoflitsy

Walt‘s original sketch of Epcot is kind of hilarious if you follow the “EPCOT Centre” parody twitter page.
