Little Man of Disneyland | Random House Disney
post image
Pickpick

Found this at an antique shop. Published before Disneyland opened, it‘s about a little leprechaun looking man who lives in a house in the orange groves and was upset his habitat was being torn down (to make way for Disneyland). Mickey and friends show him the plans for Disneyland and he negotiates as long as he can have a house in Disneyland. In the real Disneyland, if you search carefully, you can find the little man‘s house in Adventureland!

Super cute as with the first two! Last book in this clever Christmas trilogy, this one is a story of a clash between Christmas and Easter, with some masked current day political issues concerning the media woven in that probably only adults reading it to their kid would pick up on!

Someone gave this to me. wtf? Sounds awesome, don‘t even need to read the back.

hgrimes hmm ok, this is really bad. It‘s not a thriller novel like I thought. It‘s written by an anti-cat extremist using faulty science to try to make claims about cats causing schizophrenia and giving children rabies... 🙄 5y
rubyslippersreads 😾😾😾 5y
RamsFan1963 How can anyone be anti-cat?? Unless you're allergic of course, but otherwise they are a pure delight. 5y

Laura317 I‘m allergic but I don‘t care. Gimme all the cats! 5y
hgrimes @rubyslippersreads @RamsFan1963 @laura317 I think the authors wanted to write a book about how cats are bad for wild birds, but they didn‘t know how to expand that from a one page op-ed into an entire book, so they had to throw in a half ton of rubbish about why cats suck to back up their argument. (edited) 5y
RamsFan1963 @hgrimes Did the author add the old chestnut about cats stealing baby's breath? 5y

Mehso-so

My first Stephen King novel and I‘m sorry to say I wasn‘t crazy about it. Lacked the suspense and horror I was expecting from King. Maybe this isn‘t a typical Stephen King novel and not great for first timers! But besides that, it was entertaining enough though, and I adored the sweet relationship between the narrator and Mike. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Avanders Definitely not typical king 😉 Maybe try The Shining? 5y
hgrimes @AlaMich thanks! 5y

Yep, reading my first Stephen King novel. Canobie Lake, an old school amusement park my husband and I go to in the summers, was the inspiration for this novel, which peaked my interest. So far I‘m a quarter of the way through and still waiting for something to happen. The suspense is killing me!

Ladies, if you want a purse that is ALL the things: durable, functional, compact, AND inexpensive, I figured out the trick - you have to google “man purse”. I ordered this thing from Amazon and it has 6 pockets plus 4 pouches, including one pocket in the back that makes an ideal book pocket! Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072PVTHR9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_sHztDbERA1818

Eyelit Thanks for the link! Is that the small or large bag? 5y
hgrimes @Eyelit I went with the large one! 5y
LibrarianRyan yeah that looks like something my guy carries.
5y

Eyelit Good to know! Thanks again 😄 5y
hgrimes @LibrarianRyan Men get all the good stuff! It‘s not particularly “sexy” but I typically only need something formal enough to bring to work and this does the job! 5y
LibrarianRyan @hgrimes My guy changes bags way more often than I do. And he has bags to go inside of bags. I last changed by handbag a few months ago because he bought me a cool dinosaur one, but before that i don't think i changed by handbag for 2 years. He changes if not weekly, then monthly. He has a ton so that helps, but sheesh. 5y
hgrimes @LibrarianRyan Me too, I‘m so fussy about bags that the bottom of the bag basically needs to tear out before I‘m willing to consider a new one!I‘ve been looking for a while and finally got desperate and scoured Amazon. My husband on the other hand is uncool carny trash and has about a dozen fanny packs. 😂 5y
LibrarianRyan @hgrimes I used to change my work bags frequently, but then Josh got me a storm trooper backpack which I have carried for almost 3 years, but its just so big. As for my purse, the smaller the better. I prefer a writstlet but my aunt bought this mini structured Michel Kors that she hated. I love it. But I need to get the handles fixed. My wallet however, I have had for 10 years. replacement time is coming but I can not find any i like. 5y
hgrimes @LibrarianRyan Now I feel like a need a storm trooper backpack! 5y
Zelma Ooh, you may have just changed my life. I hate purses and am a tote bag kind of gal. But I want pockets and more organization than a tote. 5y
hgrimes @Zelma Why must totes with pockets be such a foreign concept? My bag this is replacing was tote-style with just one small zipper pouch. It required frustrating amounts of digging to find anything! I‘ve been on the hunt for a while for something more functional and have stumbled on a few I liked but they didn‘t pass the “Will it fit a book??” test. 5y

I loved this novel! An epic chronicle of 3 generations of a Korean family living in Japan. It‘s fiction, but I learned sooo much about Korean and Japanese culture and history through it and how drastically it changed (and not changed) over the course of less than a century. The level of research and detail is astonishing. It‘s fiction, but so real at the same time. If culture and the humanities fascinate you, this is must read.

Our living room has been dismantled for nearly a month while we work on redoing the walls and floors. So happy to be done and can put my house back in order! Took forever thanks to the previous owner being the world‘s WORST DIYer, but the hard work has paid off - it looks soooo much better than it did before! My biggest complaint about Stranger Things (really ONLY complaint, I love that show) is that it‘s not a book! As a joke, my husband surprised me with this book! It‘s sort of a prequel with Eleven‘s mother‘s backstory. So far, it‘s poorly written trash, which is completely what I expected and has not disappointed. I‘m kind of in the mood for mindless trash anyway.
