Thank you so much, @Callemarie ! You hit it right on the head! I love cats and sloths and pumpkin spice and mysteries and socks and book bags! And a mystery solved by sheep?!? I‘m so looking forward to that! #FallingForFallSwap @Avanders — And #Lexiecat is happy too! #CatsofLitsy
It‘s been a stressful couple of weeks back in school here in Florida. Covid cases are sky high and we have exponentially more cases in schools than last year, but Governor DeSantis continues to browbeat school districts and block the very mitigation strategy that was successful before: universal masking. It‘s crazy-making. Hope things are better in your neck of the woods! #TeachersofLitsy
Watching episode 7 of The Chef‘s Life with #VivianHoward — I‘m in the middle of it when they show for a few seconds a shot of the farm of a grape provider and there‘s a humongous confederate battle flag tacked to the wall. This was shot in 2013. Why include it? It really was gratuitous.
Lovely #nonfictionpicturebook #biography of the boy who became President. I particularly enjoyed learning how he worked hard to overcome his stutter (memorizing poetry, experimenting with marbles…). The book itself does not mention the death of his wife and daughter or of his son later on, but these events are included in a timeline at the end of the book. #JoeBiden

Yey for Ruth! And yes, Jimmy John‘s founder did kill endangered African animals for fun (you can Google pics), but he claims he doesn‘t any more; more importantly, he no longer owns the shops: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/07/09/fact-check-jimmy-johns-...
This is an amazing book, worthy of a place in every home and school library. #AshleyBryan gives voice and life to eleven #enslaved people auctioned off when a #plantation was sold. It brings home the horror of American chattel #slavery as a system that dehumanized both enslavers and enslaved. #humanrights #freedom
Charming #nonfictionpicturebook about how #EmilyWarrenRoebling took over her husband‘s duties as chief engineer of the #BrooklynBridge when he became incapacitated. She successfully led the project to completion at a time when women couldn‘t vote or even access credit on their own. Has sources as well as an interesting list of six strange facts about the bridge.
