The first book in the bestselling Dan 'Spider' Shepherd series. Dan 'Spider' Shepherd is used to putting his life on the line. Working for an elite undercover squad he has lied, cheated and conned in order to bring Britain's most wanted criminals to justice. But when a powerful drugs baron starts to kill off witnesses to his crimes, Shepherd is given his most dangerous assignment yet. He has to go undercover in a top security prison, a world where one wrong move will mean certain death. As Shepherd gambles everything to move in on his quarry, he soon realises that the man he is hunting is even more dangerous than the police realise. And that he is capable of striking outside the prison walls and hitting Shepherd where it hurts most.

Guns of one description or another figure on a number of covers in Stephen Leather‘s Spider Shepherd Series. Don‘t let the covers put you off, this series is little know but I love them! #Revolver #Movember

Cinfhen Covers are a little off putting/ not gonna lie 😱 4y
Andrew65 @Cinfhen Yes I don‘t think he helps himself with the covers. 4y

Andrew65 @EadieB I‘m sure you‘ll really enjoy them. Biggest issue is the lack of chapters! 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 I need chapters. They are good places to take a break if you need to. 4y

If you want #brave you don‘t need to look much further than these five characters!
Jack Reacher - Author Lee Child
Gabriel Allon - Author Daniel Silva
Scot Harvath - Author Brad Thor
Mitch Rapp - Author Vince Flynn
Spider Shepherd - Author Stephen Leather

Five of my favourite series. Spider Shepherd is possibly the least we‘ll know but if you enjoy these other series I strongly recommend Stephen Leather‘s book.

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book, not my first Spider Shepherd book (read one other) but it is the first one in the series. Good concept of going undercover in a prison, which puts an interesting slant on the book. I really liked the main character, although some bad stuff happened to him in this book 😢 which was a shock. Will most definitely be continuing with the series. One minor point - I wish he'd used chapters in the book!

' I know that sometimes bad people get away with doing evil things, and good people get hurt.'

Unfortunately too much evidence of this in the world today.

Just started the first book about Dan 'Spider' Shepherd who is an undercover detective. We are immediately introduced to him in his undercover role within a high security prison - a very interesting and novel concept. I have previously listened to a book from later in the series and really enjoyed it, hence picking up the first book. Enjoyable so far.
