Day 21 - #GoldCover #NamasteNovember

This gold covered box holds DVD‘s about Intriguing India and a copy of A Passage To India by E.M. Forester. It was given to my husband by Mead WestVaCo Paper Company Kraft Division from Charleston, South Carolina. Each year the company would give classics as Christmas gifts. My husband worked for a box company and would purchase kraft paper from WestVaCo.

Day 20 - #ClassicIHaventRead #GratefulReads

I have read 240 books from the 1001 books to read before you die list but I have not read Tolkien yet. I‘m not a fan of fantasy but I think I need to check out this trilogy. I have watched the movies and enjoyed them so reading this book is overdue.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I haven‘t read these either!! 1d

Crime and Punishment | Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Day 19 - #ClassicYouEnjoyed #GratefulReads #CrimeandPunishment #FyodorDostoyevsky

A must read classic! Masterpiece! Riveting!

Murder story, told from a murder‘s point of view, that implicates even the most innocent reader in its enormities. It is a cat-and-mouse game between a tormented young killer and a cheerfully implacable detective. It is a preternaturally acute investigation of the forces that impel a man toward sin, suffering, and grace.

OriginalCyn620 I have not read this classic yet! 2d

Dark, disturbing psychological thriller. Hard to put down. Sadie and Will Foust moved their family from Chicago to Maine. Morgan Baines, neighbor, is found dead. Suspects galore - characters that may be involved in the murder. 3 women give their POV & many secrets manifest. Plot well paced & filled with twists. Creepy & suspenseful. Edge-of-your-seat-surprise ending slaps you in the face. Recommend. Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Park Row.

The Devil and Sherlock Holmes has multiple stories and ALL TRUE except Sherlock Holmes. There's true crime, passion, and even a sea story about a man's passion on finding the largest squid. The story about Chris who perfected the perfect crime and wrote about it is superb! There's also a true story of the greatest baseball stealer ever and one you'll never forget!

Something in the Water: A Novel | Catherine Steadman
post image

Day 17 - #ThoughtYouWouldLikeItButDidnt #GratefulReads #SomethingInTheWater #CatherineSteadman

I found this book to be somewhat predictable. Even the plot was a bit unbelievable. The title is the best part of the book because it creates an interest but I was very disappointed when it wasn't something that would be exciting like a body or something you would expect from a thriller. I guess I should stop there and say that the book was not for me.

#TheBoneGarden #KateEllis

A skeleton of a corpse who has been buried alive is discovered at an excavation of the gardens of Earlsacre Hall. Det Sgt Wesley Peterson is busy trying to solve a murder of a man stabbed to death in a caravan park. Are these murders related? Solicitor Brian Willerby may have the answer. Kate Ellis brings us a mystery that seems to imitate the past. Read this to find out what it is about Earlsacre that leads to murder.

Andrew65 Think I liked this one and the series more than some others. A very typical English feel to this murder mystery series. Most US Crime is much faster paced and often more gritty. Obviously some exceptions to this on both sides of the pond. (edited) 7d
EadieB @Andrew65 The only complaint I have about her writing is that her writing does not flow well for me. 7d

September 1939. England is at war with Nazi Germany. Southampton, the world's most luxurious airliner-the legendary Pan Am clipper-takes off for its final flight to neutral America. Aboard are the cream of society and the dregs of humanity, all fleeing the war for reasons of their own...shadowed by a danger they do not know exists...and heading straight into a storm of violence, intrigue, and betrayal... A favorite!
