This was such a surprising find. This book tells the story of Marie Curie's assistant. Her life sounds tragic. She was sent to a mental hospital as a hysteric and when she got better she ended up with Marie Curie and got hit by a blue radiation and had to have her body parts amputated.

I've read and listened so many books during this Corona time that I had piles and piles of read books in my closet waiting to be taken to used bookstore. I finally did it and found all of these treasures from there. ❤📚

Pickpick

The notes of Blanche Wittmann, a famous patient of Dr Charcot in the Salpetriere Hospital in Paris, who afterwards became an assistant and friend of Marie Curie. Her notes and the interrruptions by Enquist are a bit confusing sometimes and not all that functional, but despite that I liked this book and especially what it's about: love, radium, hysteria and the first decennia of the twentieth century, which have changed our world forever #1001books
