Usually I try to read books that have spent longer time on my bookshelf but since I'm travelling now and my earlier book finished yesterday I need to go with a bit more resent one. I got this earlier this week. It sounds so interesting! 😍

CuriousG I loved Hag-Seed! 6d
Dilara That‘s a good haul! And I love your mug 😀 6d
Martta @Dilara It's one of my favourites as well! 😊 6d
Martta @CuriousG Good to know! I thought that the back cover text sounded really interesting. 😁 6d
CuriousG I read Hag-Seed right after I saw a brilliant performance of The Tempest at the Stratford Festival (Canada, not England) and that may have contributed, but I think overall it is just a really good read. 5d

Martta @LeeRHarry You should really read it! I'm almost half way through and I really like how fresh the story feels and all the characters are also written really well. 😊 2w

Wanted to read something a bit longer. I found this a year ago from book fair and have been waiting to get to it. Now it feels like a perfect time. 😊📚

I loved this book! I feel it's like a Korean version of Notre-Dame of Paris except all the characters were so much better. I remember reading Hugo's book and feeling so much anger towards characters that were just so anoying. This book's characters and storylines are very similar. I also really liked the unique way of writing. It felt like reading somebody's thoughts. The structure alligned really well with my thinking. 😊❤️

This book addresses the very relevant issue with museums quite a lot. The way western countries took away treasures as spoils of war and how those treasures then ended up in museums far from their original homelands. In a way this book is a commentary of colliding, combining and tresuring different forms of culture.

Tiny book full of new information. I really like when researchers turn their research in a reader friendly form. This book gave me so much new information about paganism, Finland's historical culture and witch trials!

I really liked this book! First I thought that it was kind of heavy and difficult to read because the book starts by telling a lot of mythological details about the main characters and their family. But when the book got going the athmosphere changes totally and it is very nice ro read and the story is compelling.

I got a few Asian books. I've noticed that I'm currently quite interested about literature set in that area. Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 and Snow flower and the secret fan have been on my TBR for a long time and I've heard a lot of good things about the Memory police.

Started reading this. It tells a true story about the Witch trials in Finland in the years 1666-1671.

Did you know that whithout Finland's national mythology Kalevala we wouldn't have The Lord of the Rings series? I learned that today. I had known that significant parts of Tolkien's work with LOTR has it's roots on Kalevala but just didn't know how deep it went until today. Apparently Tolkien wanted to write a story about Sampo which is a character in Kalevala and it became The Lord of the Rings.

TheKidUpstairs That's so cool! 1mo
julesG I think I heard or read it somewhere, but since it was LOTR I didn't pay much attention. 😬 I'm not a big fan of the trilogy. 1mo

Today I heard Max Seeck talk about his newest book. Haven't read any of his work but he sounded like a really interesting writer and I definitely want to read his work at some point! He uses different story styles in his books and writes novels that educate about societal and curent world issues while the main characters are solving crimes. Sounds exactly something what I might enjoy! 😊

Tove_Reads I‘ve read them all, and some of his books have been translated. 1mo

Came to hotel bar to have a pot of tea and read a bit. It is very difficult here to get tea that is well brewed. They put always too much tea leafs in and this time it was so undrinkable that I had to ask more water to put in to make it drinkable even though I just let it brew for like a minute. It was still too strong. 😅🍵
